Except he didn't say it was their fault.

Pointing out that Statement FC didn't help the situation by saying nothing isn't the same as claiming that it's their fault.  That shouldn't be a particularly difficult concept to get one's head around.

Rangers asking fans not to do what they did would have made absolutely zero difference to the scenes yesterday.  There is absolutely nothing they could have done.

Swinney laying the groundwork for blaming Rangers fans if the re-opening of the infection factories causes cases to increase.
Schools all over the country packing kids into rooms? Not to blame.
A few thousand people gathering outside on one weekend? To blame.

Given millions returning in a big bang in England today we will have a clear indication from that before anything significant shows from our drip feed. Far better indicator.

That’s weird! Well hopefully hospitalisations will continue to fall after today.

Didn't catch if anything was said about testing at NHS/Lighthouse Labs but Todd is right about it being the hospital numbers that are affected today.

From the BBC coverage "The number of people in hospital who have tested positive with coronavirus is currently 654. That number is up by 26 but that is as a result of changes to the way cases are counted."

Steven Gerrard on Friday asked fans to obey the rules.

Telling people not to do something might make others aware of things and actually have the opposite effect. For example, NS telling people not to go to Blackpool to watch the OF game no doubt planted the seed into the minds of people who hadn't considered doing so until that point.

Add in the fact you are talking about a support whos majority are the most Anti-SNP / SG in Scotland, then you are giving them an opportunity to "get it up wee nippy" by outright saying "please do as the SG ask"

No point trying to apply rationale and logic to a group of people who are not the sharpest tools in the box.

Is there any particular reason why Poindexter Swinney of all people is out today gormlessly trying to sell government policy? It's absurd to send that clown out to try and re-establish a strong public message.

The fact is that anyone in central Scotland was aware that Rangers fans were planning a party when the title was confirmed. As others have said, it's not like 3,000 people descended at once, there was a slow but sure build up of fans and the polis did nothing. I don't accept this line that they let them gather outside because it stopped them gathering inside - did it f**k. Those who went out in groups to celebrate at Ibrox more than likely continued their celebrations together indoors, I certainly had more than a few midnight singers walking up and down my street last night.

Do you think if we got 500 P&Bers to meet up on Glasgow Green this weekend and we told the polis we'd do it indoors if they didn't let us do it outdoors, they'd just let us fire in? Would they f**k. Organisers would be fined, attendees would be fined and the crowd would be dispersed pronto.

The polis and SNP have sat back and watched this, pretended they had no idea it would happen and are now doing their usual finger pointing at big bad fitba. Absolute shitebags.

In this case, the Scottish Govt really need to consider kicking off a strong "don't drink antifreeze" campaign.

For the avoidance of doubt, the Scottish Government, all the other politicians, the heath professionals and the police are not the problem here and no amount of whataboutery can whitewash that. Stop trying to defend these blue and green p***ks.

I'll re-iterate this key point

It's the government and police's fucking job to enforce the law, not chaperone them around Glasgow city centre until a football club's Twitter strongly advises them to disperse.

If the police and SG cannot do that then it is absolutely their fault as well.

How can it be a joyous occasion if they're not allowed to mix inside or outside, meanwhile in the real world hundreds of employers are dealing with absences this morning and looking forward to further no shows for the rest of the week.
Killie going down will be the absolute opposite of joyous (not for you, I'm assuming). It will be no less traumatising if I am still barred from supporting the team or even, as I believe still applies, entering the country to listen to our demise on Radio Shortbread.
I spent last summer communicating with my sister by text as the ward she was on in the Beatson precluded a good enough signal for voice calls. Thousand of people across Scotland and more in the rUK have lost loved ones without the chance to say goodbye our even give them the love and care they normally would.
...but a football team won a trophy, so all the rules got binned.
I expect no better from either of the Sisters' pathetic hangers-on, but the response of Police Scotland is an absolute disgrace. If they can't supply a list, or at least numbers, of penalty notices issued in the next couple of weeks, heads should roll. We've always seen the Glasgow Bigots' fan's getting away with disgraceful behaviour in and around grounds at game time. This is a totally different situation, and a deeply concerning one. Like the lockdown(!) or not, the vast, vast majority of the populace have abided by severerestrictions to their lives for almost a year. Apparently, though, if enough of you break the law, then that's ok.

If any of those absences this morning are related to over indulgence, I hope the cùnts get sacked.

Yep, Police Scotland, known to be full of Rangers fans, have fucked up here.

Indeed, on Twitter this morning I've seen several Rangers fans posting selfies with Police Officers in George Square yesterday.

Also videos of them dancing with the ****.  I'm pretty sure if they were off shift, half of them would have been in the crowd.

It's possible to say that those gathering are selfish wankers and also point out that the polis have shat it from enforcing the law.

I'm not really that bothered about Killie getting relegated, I'd far rather see us both in the top league.

Do we know how many Saints fans received penalties a few weeks back?

As for the rest, I really only bother about my own situation, it's not ideal but can't really say I'm even slightly perturbed by how it's all playing out from my point of view.
