The article is only about a survey in which many who were surveyed admitted that they had put on weight, that's it. There's been no recorded deaths from eating a 11'' Pizzaland spicy chicken and watching 'Vikings' on Netflix. Granted, but not making the effort to shift extra timber when the opportunity presents itself (and actually consciously putting on the weight) isn’t going to be conducive to positive outcomes, COVID or otherwise. The Venn diagram of the group I describe, and the group who’ll scream blue murder at governments for not doing enough to protect people from negative health outcomes from the virus would be interesting.
Bairnardo
So not just a simple run your arse/belly/moobs around the block for a few weeks can fix this, we have to get all stats about it???Its venn diagrams we needs. If this thread has taught me anything, its that we always need more venn diagrams.

super_carson
Obesity accounts for 23.1% of deaths in Scotland, and we have long since been one of, if not the, fattest nations per capita in Europe. There are lots of societal, economical, psychological etc. reasons for this but our response to the pandemic missed the opportunity to really drive home the importance of diet and exercise as a way to help keep yourself healthy and give yourself a better chance of avoiding serious illness from diseases and viruses. Billy Jean King
I was out yesterday and would put mask wearing about 50/50. This being in England where they are no longer mandatory. In general, it was older people still wearing them. For all of the online shrieking about people being terrified of non-mask wearers and how this was endangering their health, I didn't see anyone wearing anything other than a cloth or surgical mask. At any rate, quite clear there is a large section of the population that either actively still wants them or doesn't feel safe not wearing one. A big positive was seeing all of those stupid one way systems consigned to the bin. Yip just back from Yorkshire and it's pretty much 50/50 in pubs, shops and in restaurants with a couple of shops even still not allowing entry without them. The racecourse was maybe 20% masking. Biggest surprise was the number still wearing masks just walking about outside, possibly more than I see in Ayrshire.

Initially it was supposed to be mid-September but got brought forward to the start of the month. Gyms in England re-opened around mid/end July from what I remember, and I think other countries around Europe re-opened their much earlier than we did. To be fair, they did seem to change position on this, given the fact that they were allowed to open in level 3 (so one of the last things to close and first to re-open) but there was nothing from the health or sports ministers to encourage people to get out and get exercising.

Elixir
Just realised that Starmer actually said this specifically earlier on: Quote Starmer tells LBC that "we’ve got to be careful at mass events and certainly the principle of double vaccination and negative tests is one that I support... The idea that we can go back to mass sporting events or any events without any checks is not one that I can subscribe to." What a fucking loser. How fitting for the Labour Party.

Guest
Quick question guys, How long should it take for your vaccination status on the "NHS Inform" site to be updated after your 2nd jag has been received ? I got mine on Thursday but have just checked and it's still showing me as only having received the 1st one.
