Probably best if you f**k off to the politics forum.

You have no serious points to make here.

What?

Are you telling me that this really is the thread for true blue Thatcherites, and people seeing it otherwise aren't welcome?

I'll admit that I did get that sense of this place at times, but it's not usually expressed quite so explicitly.  Thanks for clearing that up.

No.

let me guess.  Now everyone that is laughing at you is a true blue thatcherite.  My word 😂

This is the thread to discuss Covid.  There’s no place for you trying to turn it into your idea of a socialist utopia.  As I said if that’s what you want to discuss there’s other threads for you to do that on.

No, it's more because you told me to "f**k off" from the thread on account of preferring the governments of Wilson and Callaghan to those of Thatcher.

Couldn’t give a f**k which of those governments you prefer.

Now f**k off and start a thread on the politics forum to discuss it.

I think Monkey Tennis is providing a stellar service in this thread.

I was having trouble sleeping 2 or 3 nights back. Opened up this thread on my phone, read a few of MT's posts and I dozed off so quickly my phone smacked me in the melt. Slept like a baby albeit with the bridge of my nose a wee bit sore.

Cheers MT for being so spectacularly boring.

One of Nicola Sturgeon’s most senior Covid-19 advisers will claim in an explosive new book that his warnings on care homes and against harsh lockdowns were disregarded.

Mark Woolhouse alleges he wrote to former chief medical officer Catherine Calderwood in January 2020 and urged her to begin emergency planning for a pandemic – but was ignored.

The Year the World Went Mad: A Scientific Memoir details missed opportunities to protect the vulnerable and serious failings in both UK and Scottish Government policy.

Woolhouse, a professor of infectious disease epidemiology at Edinburgh University, believes lockdowns are morally wrong and that it was obvious from the beginning that a “zero Covid ” elimination strategy would not work.

A synopsis of the book, published on Amazon, states: “In January 2020, leading epidemiologist Professor Mark Woolhouse learned of a new virus taking hold in China.

He immediately foresaw a hard road ahead for the entire world, and emailed the chief medical officer of Scotland warning that the UK should urgently begin preparations.

“A few days later, he received a polite reply stating only that everything was under control. In this astonishing account, Mark Woolhouse shares his story as an insider, having served on advisory groups to both the Scottish and UK governments.

“He reveals disregarded advice, frustration of dealing with politicians and the missteps that led to the deaths of vulnerable people, damage to livelihoods and the disruption of education.”

Woolhouse sits on the Scottish Government’s Covid Advisory Group, which also includes Edinburgh University’s Devi Sridhar, who has argued strongly for harsh lockdowns to control infections.

Woolhouse said: “Much more should have been spent on providing protection for care homes. Lockdowns aren’t a public health policy, they signify a failure of public health policy.”

The Scottish Government has admitted to the Sunday Mail, for the first time, that experts in attendance had “diverse perspectives”.

A spokesman said: “Prof Woolhouse is one of a number of clinicians and scientists advising the Scottish Government.

We have always and will continue to take a wide range of views on board as we come to carefully considered decisions about what is for the best for the country as a whole.”

It's funny how times have changed. In pre covid days it was considered suspicious and socially unacceptable to wear a mask.Just an observation.

covid hysteria has seen masses of people going along wi and applauding abusive, suspect and unacceptable behaviour

people have lost all sense of normality, morality

Woolhouse going for SNP jugulars is absolutely sensational stuff.

However, using the situation to try to sell a book and make a name for herself is exactly what Sridhar has been getting absolutely torn apart for.

Well, hopefully that's it, the end for restricting numbers at large outdoor events.

Indoor events and hospitality still to go mind. If those restrictions aren’t lifted tomorrow, then the SG are more out of touch than I ever thought possible.

We were down at Braehead yesterday, 1600 allowed in Ikea but only 200 in the Arena.

I'd love to hear the science behind that.

Due to a combination of circumstances I won’t bore people with I had to go for a PCR test with my son today. The place was basically empty and the staff, who were very polite and helpful, said it was very quiet, presumably due to the rules about accepting LFTs. They even said the results should be with us in less than 24 hours, compared to my mother in law and partner who almost spent their whole isolation period waiting for test results.

When the time comes to dismantle the testing infrastructure it should be basically out of use.

Meatballs are the cure.

Seriously though, IKEA away is a tough day out.

That's why I've been saying all along that I don't respect any of these people, even those who are saying what I am hoping to hear.

The real scientists, and the only ones worth praising, are those who saved our arses by developing a working vaccine. The rest are tedious hangers-on media whores who deserve nothing but our contempt for getting in the way.

this didn't happen. worse, its prolonged and exacerbated the hysteria

agree on cowards who stayed silent until opinion is now shifting. this bloke knew the score from the start and didnt go public
