Which they would have done anyway. Most people will keep a lid on it imo.

I can totally see it.

These rules are a political concoction and compromise.

It's quite clear that there is a solid minority of the population who genuinely don't give a f**k about any of the rules, and have felt that way since the start. That's the biggest issue but it's incredibly difficult to deal with so all the govt can do is tighten the rules and keep playing the guilt card.

If your family is being sensible and taking the best precautions then the difference between one or two households is minimal.

Emotional support is massively undervalued in our society, and we have to try and make the best choices we can to help each other out. If it means stretching this rule (which came through political concoction and compromise) then so be it.

And yip.

Do schools not need to stay open continuously though? in order to make up for the three months they 'missed'?

Could maybe give them Christmas day off, and be in the rest of the time.

Us for Them should be along anytime now to suggest this very thing in the interests of keeping life normal for kids, and enabling parents to 'prepare' properly for a 5 day bender.

I'm sure I'll regret asking this, but I must have missed the Magna Carta thing. What's going on?

A hairdressers in Bradford opened during lockdown and when told to shut and then fined quoted Magna Carta in their defence. As they have not paid their initial fine of £1000 they are now being fined £17,000.

The amount of people telling her to quote the Magna Carta is frightening.

The woman who has grassed her to the council by finding her home address through Companies House and philpying her is just great patter. Got another moron absolutely seething with it.
