Coronavirus (COVID-19)

In matters tangentially related to folk telling tales, it turns out - surely to the surprise of no one - that Russia was suppressing the numbers of covid deaths, reporting only those deaths that could be confirmed by autopsy. This pushes the UK down the leaderboard.

In fact Russia's excess death over the period: 186,000 odds, places them third now behind the US and Brazil.

Not shocked at all.

China and North Korea will have suppressed figures as well.

Not one for conspiracies but perhaps governments have tried to ignore schools for so long until they’ve realised it’s unavoidable then come out with this new strain bollocks to justify it?

The virus has mutated over 12,000 times.

It's an absolute certainty that they realise how much they fucked up with the relaxation of restrictions for Christmas, and that they can't surely go much longer without admitting that schools are a massive driver, so they've embellished (to what degree is up for debate) the danger of this mutation to save face rather than admit they've fucked up.

At the start of spring because we were so inept at getting testing rolled out I wonder how many cases of ‘community acquired pneumonia’ we had too.

I dunno mate, in comparison to other age groups, it seems more likely that this strain does in fact transmit between and infect kids much more than previous ones.

Saw earlier ~70% of new infections in the Se were this particular one.
