Billy Jean King
Almost at the level where we will use an entire weeks supply of vaccine in one day.Down to 20-30k per day Freeman just announced (150-200k per week) well into March.

But end of MAY?? That’s not what she said. I think she said “in May”, though possibly meant to say “by May” which is the line that everyone’s been using all along. Freeman is not a brilliant speaker so it’s never a surprise to me when she trips over stuff like that.

Is in England. To be honest, unless they have vaccine shortages, they must be well ahead of meeting that target. They have been sending out letters to the over 60’s for vaccinations in the next two weeks (my mum got hers for the 21st) - at these rates it surely won’t take 3 months to do all of the over 50s and 60s?

Billy Jean King
ICU weekly admissions still rising is a very disappointing stat.Even more concerning is Leitch saying the new variants are "flattering the curve" of falls in cases and hospital admissions and he said it's going to be very difficult to see an increase in speed of reduction with "the current level of restrictions". Sounds like we are going nowhere fast lockdown wise. Also hints we have not progressed enough since the school announcement to actually go ahead with it. Utterly grim !

The overwhelming majority of people are fat because they eat too much and do too little. Most people will see themselves getting a wee bit chunky and do something about it. But the others, fuelled by messages like "Big IS Beautiful" and that loving your body is more important than looking after it, don't have an incentive to change, and continue to shovel food into their gubs at an ever increasing rate. How we effectively tackle it is an entirely different question, but the overriding point is that most fat people are not fat because they can't help it. You have come across a niche nothing more nothing less. If they want to live that way then that's their choice but it is a very small proportion of the population that align themselves with that movement. Except the vast majority of fat people choose to live the way they do, otherwise they would do something about it. The lack of societal pressure / desire to not offend them enables them to continue as is. There is a very clear line between having a dig / mocking people for things they can't help, and doing the same to those who could help themselves, but either see it as perfectly acceptable to be fat, or can't be arsed to do anything about it. -
MP_MFC
Absolute stick on that Willie Rennie will be leading the charge when the figures go down to 30k a day querying why we didn't sit on the supply to keep a steady pace rather than try to race ahead of England.

Simplifying it down to "all fat people are like that because they feel no shame" is utterly moronic. The physical reasons all boil down to chomping down higher calories than your body uses, ergo it can be controlled by behavioural changes. People might not want to make those adjustments, but that's just tough. There is no other fundamental mechanism at work. The comparison between this and the shrieking about 'folk not following the rools!!!111!!!' whenever a couple of households in a large town pick up the 'rona is instructive. Basically snap out it.
