Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Recommended Posts

Really positive numbers again today, on all measures. ICU is half what is was a month ago, hospitalisation numbers even better.

Proportionately, the age of new hospital admissions is dropping too which indicates vaccinations are having an effect and it’s not just lockdown. The next 2 weeks should see the impact of the 60,000 vaccinations a day we were doing a few weeks ago, and we will be in a very different place.

Death rate crashing down too.

All in all, it’s almost unremitting good news.
Wonder if NS will bring things forward if these trends continue. It's definitely looking good.

I’m thinking we might end up ahead of England if this keeps up.

Quietly confident.
We just need Falkirk to grow up.

Agree with this.

Can’t wait to get back.

It really all depends on personal circumstances. I’m supposed to be learning from more experienced co workers, not easy when we’re all in out pwn homes. Also harder to get stuff done in the home environment and my partner doesn’t seem to understand that I’m expected to do the same amount of work as I would in the office, I’ve been doing blended office and wfh for months now yet she frequently refers to my wfh days as “ days off” and often wants my attention, and not in a good way either [emoji31]

Having the flexibility between being in the office and working from home is obviously the ideal scenario. [emoji41]

We’ve been told we can choose how we want to work.

Naturally I’ll be selecting home working for the entirety of the Euros.

Something to keep an eye on is the fact that Israel's infection rate has increased since restrictions were lifted, despite their vaccination programme. The R number is apparently now at 1.

I realise that what's important in the number of hospitalsations and deaths, but if the same thing was to happen here you don't know how the SG will react to it.

I think the mood has changed so greatly that we now have to go by hospitalisations and death tbh.  If the vaccines continue to do what they're doing then the R number will become pretty much irrelevant.   Any moves to lockdown society and restrict movement becomes less credible if hospitals are not under pressure and those testing positive are not becoming ill.

Exactly. The reason for lockdown was to protect the NHS. We now have vaccines to do that instead.

My dad (78) got his last Sunday, was good to see a constant stream of people flowing through the vaccination centre. Mrs P (37) has just got an appointment through for this coming Friday. Several neighbours already have theirs, certainly starting to get the feeling that we're getting on top of this now.
