Hopefully not too many people share your opinion of “well if Rangers fans can do it” why can’t I? I certainly wouldn’t be looking to Rangers fans for legal and moral guidance. This isn't about Rangers fans for moral guidance but then you know that and are being deliberately facetious. If police Scotland wanted to prevent it, it could have been dispersed very early on indeed long before outnumbered 100 to 1 ever became a possibility. Not only was it not dispersed but it turned into an organised police escort. I'm fucking angry at the handling of it. My Mrs is self employed, has not worked for 3 and a bit months due to not being allowed and has not qualified for any sort of help due to being newly SE. She'll be forced to stay closed for another 6 weeks as of this writing and in spite of this, has foregone a wage for the last 12 weeks and will continue to as she's absolutely terrified of the prospect of a knock at the door from the police for cutting someone's fucking hair.

Apparently all she needs to do is gather hundreds of people in her salon at the one time and then the police won't bother their arse.
TheScarf
My mate, who used to post on here, used to work for Police Scotland at Helen Street and he said the place was awash with ****. it’s impossible they didn’t know about would’ve had it all planned, police presence wise.

This is not an issue of Scottish footballs making. Police Scotland should be getting the full effect of any ball kicking the Govt dish out. I won't hold my breath though.

You reckon this is what they wanted?
Inanimate Carbon Rod
Scottish football shouldnt be punished in anyway, but what we need is strict liability, wouldnt apply today, but would have yesterday. Cancel the old firm game in a fortnight though, thats going to be an absolute mare.

Surely they should have been preventing such a crowd from forming in the first place? Usual attitude from police Scotland here, completely unwilling to do anything against fans of two clubs but will be a overly harsh on all other fans just to pretend they are doing something about misbehaviour involving football. It’s an unacceptable stance.

They don’t want to be dealing with thousands of pissed up morons.

There’s 90 police cells actively in use in Glasgow right now even if you arrest a ‘small group’ youre not going to make a dent in a crowd of thousands scattered through the city centre. The snp appointed lord advocate has also massively reduced the guidance to duty officers on which type of offences will actually be accepted in custody and these folks would likely just be released anyway. Look i get your anger, im raging myself, but theres not very much else they can do, if they go in and try and arrest a ‘small group’ then it spurs an even larger amount to cause disorder, thats how crowd dynamics work.

The police keep thousands of rangers and Celtic fans apart every old firm match. They are putting in mesures to try and prevent crowding at hotspots such as beaches this weekend, with regular stops and fines for those who couldn’t show legitimate reason for their travel. They clearly could have put in measures here that they just didn’t bother with.
