I'm not sure that having some dominatrix stamping on my nuts and putting my old chap in a clamp would be much help if I was suffering, to be honest.

I suppose "We Just Don't Know" if this would work or not. Might as well try it.

Johnstone, Paisley and Renfrew will be hosting NHS drop-in clinics this week for anyone aged 16 and over who has not had their first COVID-19 vaccine.

The clinics will be in:

• Renfrew Leisure Centre – Tuesday 24 August, Sunday 29 August and Monday 30 August, 9am-4pm

• Johnstone Leisure Centre – Wednesday 25 August, Saturday 28 August and Sunday 29 August, 9am-4pm

• The Lagoon Leisure Centre, Paisley – Thursday 26 August, Saturday 28 August and Sunday 29 August, 9am-7pm

You can also come along to the clinics if you’ve waited more than 8 weeks for your second vaccine.

The clinics will be offering Pfizer to 16 to 39-year-olds and AstraZeneca to anyone aged 40 and over.

Cracking bit of insight to have vaccine walk in clinics open during school times for 16 year olds who will mostly be at school when they are open. I get there is some weekend coverage but ffs its not like schools have never been used to deliver mass vaccinations to pupils before. Line them up in the assembly hall and get them jagged in one day and come back in 8 weeks, do the same in the colleges etc too.
Absolutely no shock that cases have risen when schools return, we all knew this would happen, I agree theres no clear evidence for 12-15 year olds being vaccinated unless circumstances or underlying health conditions make it favourable, but that also has to come with a shift in the messaging from the psychopaths who want full blown ozzie rules covid behaviour. Its endemic, it wont go away, schools will raise transmission, staff are vaccinated, so too should parents, life has to go on.

I went to have a look at thread favourite uk_centrist on twitter to see what the land of fear are thinking. I think he's become a bit unhinged. There is a whole community he is part of that delights in:

  • Vaccines "wearing off"
  • Vaccines only 50% effective "so that every time a vaccinated person meets someone with the virus, it's a coin toss if they get it"
  • Schools going back unmasked is "dangerous".
  • New Zealand gets everything right. The UK gets everything wrong.
  • Cases are high/rising everywhere
  • The Lambda Variant is on the march

I honestly thought he was just a zero-Covid supporter but it seems to me that he's delighting in tweets that agree with these views, and is happy to admonish and belittle actual scientists with experience in public health who don't fit his narrative. And he's not alone. And he posts an alarming amount of pro-Kier Starmer guff. Criminal.

Still, here's a retweet of his. I've added it here purely because she's a wid.

I blame the folk on here that were saying Prof Bauld isn't close to NS.

Covid expert given government adviser role - BBC News

Quote

One of Scotland's top Covid experts has been appointed as an adviser to the Scottish government.

Prof Linda Bauld, an Edinburgh University behavioural scientist, will take up the role of interim chief social policy adviser on 27 September.

The academic, who made regular media appearances during the Covid pandemic, will advise ministers on reducing poverty and inequality.

She will be seconded to the role on a part-time basis for up to nine months.

f**k me, going on about closing schools on the same day she is appointed to a role around reducing poverty and inequality. Looking at her background, I’m not entirely sure what qualifies her for that role either.

Never take health advice from someone with a coupon full of Botox imo.

That sounds pretty shocking, right enough.

How does it compare to figures encountered in other areas of deprivation?
