Also asking not to cross the border to avoid tighter restrictions protections punishments during the Hogmany celebrations' In an interview with BBC radio programme Good Morning Scotland on Tuesday, Professor Leitch said these cases were “depressingly predictable" as cases quadrupled in the past three weeks. Professor Leitch said: “Case numbers going down is a very difficult piece of information to give. "The modelling suggests that the peak of the Omicron wave in the United Kingdom will be somewhere between mid to late January, maybe even pushing into February. "But that will depend quite a lot on human behaviour and what we do now. "We may not want the peak early because if this is an enormous wave we may want to draw it out over a longer period because you might then get more people vaccinated." On potential further restrictions in Scotland, Professor Leitch said he hoped we could ‘get away without anything too dramatic.’ Anyone on here really wanting this to go on through February? No, no, God no. However, the way they are talking that’s what’s happening. Also, why all the stuff about getting people vaccinated? Anyone who was even slightly interested in getting vaccinated will at least have had their first two doses. Everyone who was advised to get the booster as they were seen as being in an ‘at risk’ group will have had their booster.

The extremely wealthy don't play by rules. Rules? Rules are for the plebs. What are you on about here? You posted an article that Trump had received financial support from the UK government. His business was entitled to this support in the same way other busineses were. There are a number of businesses that didn't need it but were nevertheless entitled to claim it. Some paid it back. I don't disagree that many of the restrictions have generally been there to be disregarded by the "elite" but this has nothing to do with furlough or financial support offered for business.
Detournement
Going by Leitch's statement Sturgeon is going to double down in the hope she can achieve less deaths than Boris by the end of winter and discredit him. Horrific for the Scottish public. Suicidal for the SNP and independence. For her personally it will be hugely beneficial to her future career and earnings.

No flu for 2 seasons, how on earth could that have happened? It has to be possible that that's why the worst case scenarios invented by the lying modellers haven't come about? If the bedwetters want to do this while normal people continue to pile into stadia, pubs, clubs and restaurants, as continues down south, then they're free to do so. They probably see themselves as some sort of hospital protecting saviours anyway. It's a shame the Scottish Government don't actually trust the people of Scotland to make their own decisions. Working from home is the only credible measure that you could argue is cutting contacts. Would hospitals be overrun if this and the other discredited theatre were scrapped? I think the most likely scenario would be 'no'. Influenza has been disrupted globally, for rather obvious reasons, but also likely due somewhat to viral interference. 2 hours ago, Binos said: Not just Nicola Sturgeon being cautious https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-59805829 France tightening covid restrictions It's happening everywhere regardless of news from South Africa Good to see France's checkpoint society being shown up for the pointless, ludicrous mess that it is. DeeTillEhDeh
Excellent to see the English government take the right approach with the best interests of the country at heart. Michael W
The French ban on eating and drinking on long distance trains is absolutely brilliant. How can we be almost two years into this and yet still coming up with pointless measures like that?
