Who are the 6 teams

Recommended Posts

Is there any point in complaining or even outing the "six" when we don't actually know the proposal put forward.

I can't believe that it was simply..

Reconstruction: [   ] Yes / [   ] No

Edit: Richard Gordon has just said on air who the six are.

Aberdeen
Dundee United
Hibernian
Ross County
St Johnstone
St Mirren

Yes.............but he has also said that "the 6" is irrelevant because the proposals were all over the place and were basically doomed from the beginning (as many on here predicted).

Of course, but just added it into my post seeing as it's relevant to the thread.

Had a proposal even been presented by the reconstruction group as of yet?

Certainly not formally, as Partick's latest statement outlines.

Even better.

Giving scabby wee clubs like Partick some form of hope, only to rip it away the moment they walk through the door, is just beautiful.

Steve Brown deserves a lot of praise for being a part of that.

The 6 will be:

Celtic

Rangers

Hibs

Aberdeen

St Johnstone

Plud one other - Motherwell would be my bet.

I'm not sure we'd be knocking it back at this point tbh.

There's every chance we would had come down to it but going by our chairman's statement we were quite open to the idea and were going to get some sort of a consensus from the club owners (ie: the fans) based on what was presented.

The fact that it seems the "task force" didn't even get as far as presenting suggests we'd read the room pretty well in saying "a vote, if there is one".

Quote

"Although we will approach any discussions with an open mind and with a view on compromise, the club board wish to engage properly in terms of any proposed new structure as part of our own process.

The board have already debated and agreed some core principles that we hope will form part of the SPFL’s task force, headed by two very capable individuals in Les Gray from Hamilton Academical and Ann Budge at Heart of Midlothian.

We believe quick decisions can often be bad ones. ‘Something needs to be done‘ is not the best methodology to apply. We should be as imaginative as possible and look at a number of different options – not just the obvious ones and immediately box ourselves into a corner around one particular structure.

Our hope is that the talks within the task force and a vote, if there is one, remain constructive. Any change should make the game in Scotland more attractive to all the stakeholders, principally the supporters.

It has to make the game better in the long term for fans. It also needs to consider the various potential scenarios for restarting the game, their implications for member clubs and therefore how the league and game as a whole navigate it accordingly.

The Well Society will shortly conduct their own consultation with members to help us shape our thoughts on what reconstruction should look like from the standpoint of our supporters as owners of our club."

Ultimately I reckon we'd have landed on the "reconstruction isn't the priority at the moment" side of the fence but I'm not sure we'd have had a definite position one way or another as of yesterday.

Very proud of my club. Standing up for sporting integrity yet again

Bit strange that Dave Cormack has pulled a John Nelms. He was saying this, 'We think that's the fair thing to do for everybody' on a 14 team league on the 18th April. Now he's the spokesman for the club's not wanting reconstruction.

Why are you always such a w**k over the most trivial of things? Does it make you feel good about yourself? Jeezo.

Fair point. There wasn't a superfluous apostrophe in your post - there were two (everybody' and club's). Poor show from DA Baracus,.

It is interesting that in addition to the 6 clubs listed, you could easily add Celtic, Rangers and Motherwell as already having a broadly similar perspective. It is rare to get so much consensus so quickly between the BIG CLUBS in Scotland. Budge should be given a lot of credit for that, in all fairness.
