Having stayed out of the statement wars to date  there was no point in pussyfooting about with the first one, best to wade in two footed.

I bet Scott Gardiner's glad they're not meeting in person tomorrow - he'd be getting his c**t kicked in!

They'll get him eventually, mind.

Pish statement by Clyde.

Its like these clubs feel compelled in this social media age to say something, in some cases anything, just to feel in some way relevant.

I exclude Dunfy from this as they had to respond to the fanny that is Gardiner at ICT, but for the rest, jesus just gie it a rest.

(and I hope to christ Hibs dont make a statement just for the sake of it)

You got to love all these statements. Clyde are having a go at self-interest  while at the same time stating they would not accept a 14-14-14 or 14-14-16 which would 'significantly disadvantage' Clyde.

Do none of these writers know what hypocrisy means?

It's like the fallout of a December Old Firm game that gets dragged out because of the winter break, only there's currently no football to eventually bring an end to the tedium.

I am still trying to work out the indignation on all the football programmes about clubs acting self interest. It is the duty for every club to look after their best interests, quelle suprise that's what they have been doing. At this time they don't really have the option to stand back and  to think of the 'good of the game' when the chances are their own club that they are responsible for will be in grave danger by the time we get out of this.

Notable exception of Rangers who are more interested in trying to shaft Celtic than act in self interest.

Anne Budge just won the statement league, so at least some good has come out of this scenario

I'd say that ICT have absolutely strolled to this title.

Falkirk, as is customary, claim second place.

This resolution would effectively have the same consequence as a “null and void” conclusion to the league season, but the SPFL central distribution monies would still be provided to clubs on their current standing. This was not going to be acceptable to Dunfermline Athletic, Alloa Athletic, Greenock Morton, Queen of the South and Arbroath.

Why did Dunfermline (and the other clubs mentioned) think it would be unfair to distribute monies to clubs based on their current standings and what would the difference be between the two motions in terms of financial loss / gain to someone like Dunfermline?

Aberdeen the latest to confirm they'll vote for an inquiry:

“We reiterate our belief that an independent inquiry is the only way of drawing a line under what has become a highly damaging episode for the whole of Scottish football.

“There is a distressing lack of confidence and trust between the SPFL leadership and many of the clubs, and it is hard to see a resolution, far less a reconciliation, without some form of impartial and objective assessment of the many claims and counter-claims.

“Some of those involved will be prepared to make information known in confidence through an independent inquiry, which they would not otherwise be willing to disclose. The SPFL will be able to provide details of the contractual consequences for the SPFL of different possible outcomes, which they have felt unable to share with members, and therefore the opportunity to obtain confirmation that their proposal was the only practicable option available.

“Importantly, there will be the opportunity for the SPFL’s Chief Executive and Legal Advisor to be cleared of the serious allegations that have been made.

“It is difficult to see how these outcomes could be achieved in a different way.”

Erm, they did distribute monies based on the current standings: that's what they got when they voted in favour of calling the season. It seems that Inverness on the other hand wanted to have their cake and eat it: null and voiding the season in terms of relegation but divvying up the money according to the, err, null and void league table regardless.

Good to see that the respectable majority of Championship clubs didn't stand for Inverness' pish and put them firmly back in their box.

It makes no sense to call the season null and void yet distribute prize money based on ppg.  You either apply it fully or not at all.

Its clear if we went null and void that anyone in the bottom half would want equal distribution.

We're probably the ones who financially it would make the biggest difference to.  Our total tickets sold for the season with rovers and hearts instead of partick and dundee united is probably in the region of 10000.  That's a whole lot of cash. Obviously the prize money we'd get for this season would remain unchanged.
