Swap Smith for Freeman and I'd love to see that line up. Pretty big change from last season and the doldrums of the championship.

Need cover for midfield and another centre back who isn't left footed (Mulgrew, Graham, McMann all able to play there).

Giving three players their first starts in such a game seems unrealistic to me.

That said, it would pain me to see Harkes start.

Also a weird notion to me that a left back could cover the left centre back spot better than Mulgrew being asked to play on the right of centre half pairing.

It's not inconceivable that Mulgrew won't spend as much time on the pitch as last season, although I see your point and agree.

That and one of the Ugandans on trial is a apparently a RB/CB so that's cover sorted if he's not a complete haddy.

I hope he's at least the size of Lee Wilkie standing on a yellow pages with the ability of Andy Webster spliced with Darren Dods.

Looking at the squad, can see the end of the line for Clark, Pawlett, Chalmers.

Chalmers being young might get sent out on loan but I can't see Clark and Pawlett getting many minutes this season.

Clark will be useful backup, Pawlett (if fit!) likewise. I fear Chalmers will never be good enough for Premiership football, sadly

We should send Pawlett to Dundee to link up with Niall McGinn. I’m sure @Bigmouth Strikes Again would approve.

I’d play Pawlett ahead of Harkes.

Clark is a useful backup.

Chalmers. Meh.
