George Floyd/Black Lives Matter Protests

Recommended Posts

I don't think it's too controversial to suggest taking the knee might be losing some of its impact. I can't say I really even take notice now when watching a game.

What obviously can't happen is for it to stop and not be replaced with anything else. It's great that the issue continues to receive the attention it deserves but it would be excellent to seem some tangible progress. The most frustrating thing about the incident with Greg Clarke repeatedly putting his foot in his mouth was that he was actually there to discuss progress on diversity etc and there's been very little reporting on the actual substance of that discussion.

There aren't millions of folk watching me check my e-mails at 8:25 to be honest so probably a bit pointless me doing it when I start work TBH

Absolutely gone at the image of me coming into the office and seeing the 6 people (socially distanced) taking a knee before we start photocopying and filing.

I didn’t really see the utility of it when you see people like Keir Starmer do it while they don’t bother to take any action on anti-black members in their own party but if it gets supporters of bigoted fitba clubs to show their arse then I guess we gotta keep taking a knee

There is a world of difference between feeling it is losing its impact, or even disagreeing with it as a method of protest, and actually booing the act itself. Anyone who booed the act is racist, it is quite frankly as simple as that.

At no point did I dispute that.

I was a bit lukewarm on the whole kneeling thing but it seems to be annoying some arseholes so i'm all for it now.

It did seem a bit pointless doing it in silence, when the original intent was to refuse to stand for the Stars and Stripes. Enraging gammons is a noble purpose.

Maybe we should start playing the National Anthem before our games.

The problem with only footballers doing it means it's open to people questioning it, it would probably be more effective if every player in the premiere league chucked in £1 million. £500 Million would go a long way in the hands of the right charities and let's be honest most BPL players wouldn't miss it.

What I don't understand is why no other sport do it? And the whole movement is saying that racism won't be tolerated and then Millwall roll over to their vile fan base they should have walked off.

Clearly we'd have to have God Save The Queen because we're a bunch of britnat tories (© tedious arseholes of the forum).

If we could choose, that would be nice. France's is quite jaunty.

Maybe you should go to your room and think about what you've said..

Only kidding, but jsut thinking, are GSTQ and FoS the worst two dirges ever intended to inspire/proclaim pride in a Nation?

Italy's is proper bouncy.

I do like the French, mind - has a proper "revolutionary" feel to it.

Going by my experiences of viewing international sport and hearing them projected through poor quality sound systems, the vast majority of anthems sound absolutely miserable.

France and Italy being notable exceptions.
