Seem to be expecting the SPFL board to support them if it goes to the judicial panel(?), not sure their proposal for 12 and then 14 clubs will have done them any good.

Technically, they don't know that the 18 games have been completed in time yet. https://spfl.co.uk/news/ken-ferguson-steps-down-from-spfl-board ...A spokesman for the SPFL said: “Given that there are a number of uncertainties, including whether League 2 clubs will play 22 or 18 games this season, we are not in a position to announce dates for Pyramid Play-Off ties this season. Whilst we understand that this lack of certainty will be disappointing to supporters of Brora Rangers and Kelty Hearts, it is important that we are entirely fair to all clubs, including the SPFL club that finishes bottom of League 2 this season. Our approach has always been to apply the Rules that have been agreed by all member clubs, as well as the Pyramid Play-Off Rules agreed between the SPFL, the Scottish FA, the Lowland League and the Highland League, and we will do so again this season.”... If lawyers have been brought on board by certain clubs you have to follow the rules to the letter. Nimmo's Notes
At times, you get the impression that it would be easier to apply and be accepted for the European Super League, than to get a play off against Brechin.
Marshmallo
What's the views in this thread on expanding a league to say 12 or 17 rather than just relegating the team at the bottom or having them play in a relegation playoff?

I've no issue in expanding L2 just as long as the trade off is two automatic relegation places between tiers 4 and 5.

In that time we have had a 4th, two 3rds and a 2nd in the league. We've won the league Cup and been runner up once. We've won the South Challenge Cup and been runner up once, we're also finalists in that competition for a 3rd time. That game is outstanding from the 2019/20 season. Oh and we got ourselves to the 5th round of the Scottish Cup. No bad eh? No, but your badge is rubbish. You could at least have a broom on a hill.

Again, I'd have no issues with that. If the standard was a 16 team league, and there were exceptional circumstances leading to an expansion, then the number of relegation places should be increased for the next season accordingly.

Add the OF colts too. We'll have about 30 teams in the league by 2030, but hey, at least it's "fair".

It really is getting to the point that every time a club is going to get relegated they will propose expanding the league. I see absolutely nothing here that has any more ability to either get a vote through or a successful legal challenge than the hearts led effort last year. It’s laughable. Also this is just awful preparation for the play off game. I know the players/manager won’t exactly be optimistic just now, but being written off by their board is not going to help in the slightest.
Thom & Gerry
I would have no problem with 12 teams with automatic relegation for bottom club thereafter. They won’t get agreement for that though.

DiegoDiego
I feel a bit sorry for Brechin fans. However the behaviour of their board means I hope they get absolutely slaughtered in the play off. See you in Grantown next season.

Good idea, run it up to 40 and you can have a Swiss system.

I'm sure the Cowdenbeath directors that travel to Glebe park tonight will be getting an extra warm welcome. What on earth is fuelling your obsession with Cowdenbeath?
Andy groundhopper
Almost European Super League with no relegation guaranteed, not against spfl2 being increased, but definitely put both the HL/LL champions up straight away - if that means 2 going down then so be it. Gets boring when clubs don't accept when they are crap, just reform and fight your way back up. Do Berwick keep moaning ?Being down south I don't know if they do. -
Mediocre Pundit
Sorry if asked already, but have the Scottish Government / SFA / whoever given permission for the HL and LL champions to play their own playoff yet - given football has only been restarted for L2 upwards and SC? Or is that classed as a L2 match (given it’s the L2 playoffs)?

These two clubs have each paid around £2k for covid testing etc this past week. It is therefore incredible that we are now two days away from the first leg of the non league play-off final and we still do not know whether there will be a pyramid play-off final. But are we all that surprised??? If the ruling is that there is no playoff final then the Kelty/Brora games are essentially rendered irrelevant........becomes nothing more than a two leg glorified friendly as the edge would completely be lost. We need confirmation today, that the SPFL will respect the pyramid and order a play-off final between the winner of this tie and Club 42.
