People tend to go wild over Irish/Scottish things over here (Outlander, Celtic Woman, etc) so might as well give it a go.
SlipperyP
Talking of no appeal worldwide. I was in a bar in Bangkok and Celtic/Rangers game was on the big screen, it was fairly busy the place (full of Thais), but not a soul was watching. After about half an hour the channel got switched to some shite English Prem game, can't remember, something like Southampton/Bournemouth, everyone then turned round and started watching. So, they were football fans, but just EPL fanboys. Fitba, naw. Then on the other hand, I met a Thai guy in our local market (backend of nowhere) with a Dundee Utd top on, a retro '80 style. It was totally bizarre. I told him "Paul Hegarty is c**t" and made my way. Edited April 2, 2021 by SlipperyP
Melanius Mullarkey
I met a Turkish-Cypriot Motherwell fan in Famagusta once. He’d never been to Scotland but saw the name on a coupon once, liked it and kept betting on them. Nice lad, bit trampy though.

GNU_Linux
Couldn't find a better thread for this but SPFL Watch over on twitter has collated viewing figures for Scottish games shown on TV. Also includes extra stuff like TV revenue (domestic & international) & prize money. direct link Edited April 13, 2021 by GNU_Linux

New Year Old Firm nearly getting 1m. I remember just 2 yrs ago reading an article that the old firm (275k) got less than Villa v Forest (300k) and the Sheffield derby (420k) one weekend. That's some turnaround.
accies1874
No Sky coverage of the play-off quarters or semis, some of the best games of the season.

Busta Nut
Why don't Sky have a decent Highlights and preview/chat about Scottish fitba show? Apologies if they do but I have never heard of it/noticed it on the planner.

You know straight from the off that it'll be at least 20 mins each on Celtic and Rangers, 10 mins on Hibs or Aberdeen or Hearts to provide "balance" and 10 mins on the rest of the teams combined. I genuinely cant imagine Sky giving any sort of insight into, for instance, Livi v Ross County without just showing the manager's pre-match interview. Yeah I suppose my use of decent, in my head, meant a fairly balanced highlight package / chat show about everything. But I know yer right.

It's pretty basic especially compared what the Eredivisie and LigaNOS have.

It was a disaster.
Dunning1874
I always thought it was a bit pish that BT didn't show the playoff quarter final when they had the playoff rights. Sky aren't even showing the semi-final: https://spfl.co.uk/news/play-off-schedule-47654 Edited April 30, 2021 by Dunning1874

We're already doing exceptionally well on attendances at all levels, and I'm not convinced there's loads of room for growth there. I'm also pretty convinced that beyond (maybe even including) the two obvious clubs there is never realistic chance of our clubs having substantial global appeal. I'd like to see BBC Scotland take on a token league game once a weekend. A non OF one. Expose some of the teams to folk who can't afford to/won't pay for subscription television.
