one word answer incompetence.....

It's almost as if the SPFL didn't get notice well in advance from SG, Jason Leitch etc that a 2nd wave could impact on the season.

Doncaster & Co really do make it up as they go along.

I'm by no means an expert or anything above average intelligence but I know you generally decide "rules" etc before you begin something, particularly ones that have contractual or legal obligations so I have no doubt at all that Doncaster and his advisors know that as well.

But for some reason they've just delayed dealing with it. It's odd.

St Mirren apparently think they can get players who were isolating on Saturday back for their next fixture.
Neil Lennon will lose the plot if they do.
It's more likely that we might just be able to field a team through injured players being risked as opposed to isolation rules being circumvented as far as I know.

Yes, if those players tested positive on Monday/Tuesday then their 10 day isolation period would be up by this Saturday.

OBVIOUSLY, YES!!!!, Trumpet

More honesty like this would be good. Fair play.

Other folk have been tying themselves in knots trying to make out the way the league ended last time was fair and sporting.

Ross County were elected into Division 3 in 1994 after decades of clubs like yours voting to keep Highland League teams out of the league.

I'll take great delight in Uncle Roy making Hearts taste their own medicine.

You might want to forward the "take your medicine" memo to Kettlewell. He seems to have forgotten his team had the worst form in the league when Uncle Roy voted them to safety and he's moaning all over the shop about unfairness and it being wrong to punish teams because of covid.

Was it not described as the least worst option?

Unlikely given waiting a bit to see if you could finish the league and delaying the next season to do so (like multiple other leagues did) or reconstruction were both better options when it comes to sporting integrity, maintaining the pyramid and not punishing any individual teams unnecessarily during an economic crisis.

Edinburgh City said it better than I could:

“We did so on the basis that we do not believe any clubs should suffer financially for the current situation created by the COVID -19 pandemic.

“Without the full league programme being completed, we felt that teams being denied the opportunity of promotion or facing relegation would not be in line with the philosophy of ‘Sporting Integrity’.

“Additionally, we were opposed to the suspension of the pyramid system.

“We strongly advocate league reconstruction featuring an increased premiership with promotion from each division, including the winners of the Highland and Lowland leagues joining the SPFL.

“This would be a solution which creates only winners and no losers.

“It is also our view that there is no clear reason why prize money – or at least a large percentage of it – could not be paid out immediately given these exceptional circumstances.”

Got to admire the length and consistency of this meltdown.
Six months of this and he’s still going.
Poor lad’s been completely broken by Hearts relegation.

The season had to complete before the beginning of August.

The Scottish Government said "no chance".

If we are curtailed, and Budge has to do the biggest volte face in history and state that promotion and relegation DO happen this year and it is THE ONLY honourable outcome -  his (and lets face it lots of the nuggets over there) heads will explode.

Does the SG really believe that clubs are so incompetent that the clubs cannot put in place and manage pre-agreed numbers of fans attending matches in a covid-safe way?

No, as thats not what they're saying or have said at any point. The test events have been done, they're happy with that, its not about the Gov being convinced that outdoor spectator sports is unsafe.

The "phased reopening" of things has been decided on a priority basis on whether it either provides a health benefit, mental or physical or if it provided an economical benefit. jobs etc. It seems rightly or wrongly spectators returning to the football as of yet doesn't meet the criteria ahead of the other things that have been allowed to reopen and if i'm honest i'm not entirely surprised it doesn't meet the criteria either.

Now that were deemed at capacity of reopening with things getting worse again dont expect things to change anytime soon either.

Edited by Mr Positive, sometimes.

Why do you think alcohol isn't allowed in grounds? It's not all clubs they are worried about, it's a specific set of 2 who have shown their inability to control their fans. Whether that it is violence, pyrotechnics or sectarian singing.

You are complexly right, It was far from fair and sporting imo, hearts should have been awarded the title and Accies the 2nd place European spot by virtue of the upside down inside out rule, damn SPFL [emoji35][emoji35][emoji35]

Amazing the league started on the exact day the SPFL wanted. Contact football was allowed from end June. Plenty time to play at minimum a short playoff tournament to sort out the other relegation and promotion positions.
