Wee-Bey
A solid spine of Allain, Harry Souttar and Guendouzi, would have the other European big guns trembling again imo.

MrWorldwideJr
Big fan of Pep's ability to start a potentially interesting thread and then immediately ruin it by getting needlessly confrontational defending a random no mark player. Imagine getting this angry over Matteo Guendouzi ffs.

The away form in Europe is hilarious but let’s not forget they were unlucky to get knocked out to both Liverpool and Roma on aggregate and even overturned a 4-0 defeat in Paris. They aren’t pish but have certainly gone downhill since the era they had arguably the best team in history. I can’t see them them drifting to the depths of an AC Milan and Man Utd just yet. When Messi leaves in a couple seasons though? What was unlucky about it? If anything the Liverpool tie was the opposite, in the first leg Salah missed a couple of sitters and it was purely Messi's genius that got them that win, they didn't play very well. In the 2nd leg they collapsed, as they do away against top sides. I don't remember any luck to the Roma tie either, they were deservedly beaten in Rome due to collapsing defensively. At home they have enough of the ball, and have Messi on the ball enough, to mean they are still a formidable side. And they'll still have enough to beat the majority of poorer sides regardless. But when they are away to top sides and aren't dominating possession their defence gets exposed. They seem to defend as individuals and are very vulnerable to physicality up front. Against the best sides they no longer have the players to just dominate every game, but it seems like they still want to try and play that way. You'd think the Juve, Roma, Liverpool and now Bayern results in the last 4 years will see a change of approach with the new manager.
peasy23
They are still trying to play the same way they did with the likes of Puyol, Xavi and Iniesta in the team, but without players of anywhere the same class in the team. Friday's performance was an utter shambles, it looks like the senior players don't fancy the manager, but some of them should be first out the door as they are well past their prime.Transfers have been a mystery. They've signed 2 of the top 4 most expensive players in history in the last few years, one of them didn't get on the pitch on Friday, while the other was instrumental in helping Bayern complete a humping of them. Even better, it seems that if Coutinho wins the CL with Bayern, Barca will need to pay Liverpool €5m as the clause in his transfer deal was player specific rather than club specific. On top of that you have Griezman and de Jong who Setien doesn't seem to have any clue as to how to use them.Reports are that Bartomeo wants Pochettino, but the rest of the board aren't keen as they think the fans won't accept him due to comments he made when he was at Espanyol that he would never manage Barca.

Derry Alli
What do sporting directors actually do? I've always wondered why clubs just hand the job to former players.

Tbf against Liverpool Dembele missed basically an open goal at the end of the first leg, and three of Liverpool's goals at Anfield were absolute shockers you would never normally see a team like that concede. It wasn't like they were blown away by magical attacking play, they deserved to go through, so in that sense they would have to be considered unlucky.
senorsoupe
So apaprently Ronald Koeman has to pitch his vision for the club to Lionel Messi. At what point do they just not bother hiring managers and just make Messi player-manager?
