Clockwork
Any chance that the EPL will review the use and application of VAR technology over the summer? It’s hardly enhanced the already over hyped experience of watching ‘the best league in the world’ has it? [emoji848]

Bishop Briggs
Carlo Ancelotti is in talks to return to Real Madrid according to the BBC. ETA - Sky. Sports says that the deal is "99% done". So Everton need new manager yet again. Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte will be among the favourites. Can't see Arsenal spending much unless they can get some decent money for Arteta's rejects. Bellerin, Soares, Kolasinac, Mavropanos, Guendouzi, Torreira, Maitland-Niles and Willock have been frozen out. Everton finished 10th even with Ancelotti in charge. Whoever takes over needs to strengthen the squad, both quality and numbers. There were two goalies on the bench most of the season because they struggled to fill it at times.

So Everton will have money available to recruit a decent replacement. The bookies make Nuno Espirito Santo the favourite. I'd go for Moyes or Benitez who still lives on the Wirral. -
Guest TheJTS98
Damning verdict on VAR from the fans. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jun/02/var-given-thumbs-down-by-fans-for-premier-league-study We're at the point now where it's hard to see where the justification for VAR existing comes from. Players and coaches complain about it. Fans hate it. Why is it there?
eez-eh
It boils my piss when I hear about rules being changed to make VAR decisions less controversial. Just get VAR in the bin instead.
staggy1929
Conte to Spurs is a goer apparently. If he and Mourinho both can't get a trophy out of them then there's no point in them even trying tbh.

Of course its fine to change your mind, but we cant have EPL fans or clubs making out like this was foisted on them agaisnt their will.

And I thought it was a stupid idea from the start. Football's not the right sport for this mince. But we're now five years into VAR and people have had the chance to live it and it is clearly widely unpopular. Time to put it in the bin.
David W
Yet the initial reaction when Morecambe were gifted a laughable penalty on Monday was to bemoan the lack of VAR. It's here to stay now. What they need to do is become much better at using it, better at explaining/accepting their errors, and sort out an automated offside system. I refuse to believe with the EPL's money they can't either make offside decided entirely by computers, or make the VAR part a lot quicker and not reliant on humans. I'm delighted it won't ever be used in Clyde matches.

Interesting one. We keep hearing that there's so much less money available this summer etc, so it might be harder than normal for players to force this stuff through. He's probably looking for a huge transfer elsewhere to start a domino effect that gets him out. Might be a few petted lips come deadline day though.

Conte's obviously an excellent coach, but it's hilarious that his approach now seems to be 'Give me loads and loads of money'. Gamesgone, imo.
