NotThePars
Sacrilege I know, but I just don't have the inclination to replay MGS games at all. I still have all my old consoles set up and replay old favourites fairly often, but can never be arsed putting any of them on despite obviously being excellent games. It's not Raiden for me, I have no idea why I just can't be fucked with it.MGS up until Ground Zeroes was a chore to actually play. I tried to replay 2 and 3 fairly recently and had to abandon it as the controls were all over the place. They’re games that I could potentially have imagined getting a full remastered treatment (unsure how Kojima leaving would impact something like that) as I don’t think him and his team have been given nearly enough credit for just how smooth MGSV and Death Stranding are to play given how irritating the games before were even if they were maybe the coolest and most innovative gaming experiences in a lot of ways.

Mario, Zelda, etc. They've always seemed bland and for very young children. Last time I tried was when the wean was a tot and I got him a Wii, as he'd heard from his friends that Mario et al were good. Was slightly disappointed that he was bored shitless by them too. Think I may have spoiled him early on with co-op Serious Sam. Then once you've finished getting out you can again. Zelda has given us some of the finest games of all time. None of them, or the AAA Mario titles, could be described as bland or for very young children

I replayed MGS2 a couple of years ago for the first time since it was first released and to be honest it was a fucking masterpiece.

I have some standards.

When I got the Switch, everyone was absolutely raving about Breath of the Wild that I kind of had to get it. But after putting maybe 10 or so hours into it, I just didn't...get it. Can see it's a very polished game (as every single first-party Nintendo game seems to be to their credit) but the game didn't grab me and suck me in like I expected it to. I intend to get back to it some point and give it another go, but it's pretty far down the list. Wouldn't agree on Mario though. Mario Odyssey was a fucking delight, and I'll fight anyone who says otherwise. I'll probably lose, but I'll try at least.

I'm the same but like RDR2, Death Stranding, Persona 5 Royal, Horizon: Zero Dawn and most of my other favourite games I know that it'll all click into place someday. It's rare for a game I love to be an immediate attention grabber like the only ones I can think of recently that did were Spider-Man and Final fantasy VII Remake.

Good mention for Death Stranding which is approaching top tier for me. It really shouldn't, it should be shite, but...its just not. Finding it fascinating.

Yea, I played it for an hour at launch and didn't think about it again until recently when I launched Limmy streaming it. It's just completely different to anything else I've seen.

Theroadlesstravelled
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Pile of shite. I played for 5 minutes before launching it in the bin. -

BallochSonsFan
Elder Scrolls 4 - Oblivion. Repetitive. Really unengaging plot and side quests. Skyrim was a massive improvement. Fallout 4. It's entertaining enough. Plot is great. Side quests? Not so much - the stuff that Preston spams you with gets annoying. Really annoying. Really quickly. Then there's the resource/building side of things. It's clunky and doesnt really like an important part of the game. I know that some folk love it and have make some fantastic settlements, but on the whole it feels really poorly implemented.

Skyrim was a massive improvement. Skyrim was exactly the same just with very dumbed down RPG elements. Most quests in both games are go fetch and go kill. Also, Oblivion's Guilds were better, class specialisation was better, Shivering Isles is better than any Skyrim DLC. Fighting dragons in Skyrim was cool but so was entering and closing Oblivion gates. In Oblivion you could craft your own spells as well. Skyrim obviously looks much prettier and gained much more playability through mods. That's about it.
