Settle.

Have you not been watching the protests all year? Portland, Oregon? Proud Boys? American civilians own more firearms than the US military. They've only been a couple of trigger events from serious and self-sustaining political violence all year. A civil war won't be a territory-based war with armies, that's not how they work any more.

So votes in Arizona, where Biden leads, should be counted.
Vote in Pa, where Trump leads, counting should stop now.

When we play St Mirren on Saturday any goals that we score after the 75th minute should count but any that we concede should not.

Mind you on that analogy Trump would still win...:(

I literally cannot conceive how anyone in America can vote for this guy or think that he is doing any kind of job that’s good enough to vote him in again. It’s like when people vote Tory here, so opposite to the way I see it that it just can’t process how they can see what they do in any kind of positive way.
That can be encapsulated by a BBC reporter in Florida saying earlier with a straight face that a sizeable Latino element of the state's population backed Trump because they fear 'Communism'.

Was going to mock this, then remembered the Covid thread started with everyone joking about how potentially serious that was.

2020 rules apply.

I know FPTP and the Tory friendly constituency boundaries in the UK are a joke, but does any supposed First World country have as tinpot an election system as the US? Everything from the primaries to the main election seems to be an utter shambles.

The college system is ridiculous.

Not too bothered who wins this, I’m not American after all.
Would be some laugh if Trump did again though. Proved all the experts wrong in 2016 and is on course to do it again.

It's one of the many lies that Trump just gets away with.

I remarked yesterday that I was surprised that there had not been a serious assassination attempt on him during this Presidency - it's like he wants to encourage the nut jobs on both sides.

We are absolutely watching a cult of personality in full action here.

Such actions throughout history by Hugo Chavez, Robert Mugabe, Gudaffi has been met with absoulte and unapologetic condemnation from America.

They have blindly wandered into a dictatorship and those who voted for him, did so in large part because he was the man to 'protect their freedom'.

Proud Republicans will quote their 2nd ammendment right as the last line of defence to rise up against a corrupt dictatorship government. Yet they are so stupid that thry don't see it happening, the very scenario written into the constitution that allowed them to have guns is unfolding right in front of them and they actively endorse it!!

Much that we moan about FPTP at least there is consistency about the way the vote is carried out across constituencies - this tallying of votes before a state has even finished voting is a joke. Different states having different processes for counting votes leaves it open to Trump's accusations of cheating.

They really should only publish the results once every vote in a state is counted.

No.  They have a massive habit of absolutely blowing it.  Going for a bland centrist doesn't work - George W Bush was an idiot but they even managed to lose the popular vote against him.  The current president is even worse and they might be about to blow it again - going for bland, centrist characters just doesn't resonate.

When Democrats win with a bland centrist - see, this is because compromise, centrism and bipartisanship work, moving to the left would be insane

When Democrats (far more frequently) lose with a bland centrist - see, this is because we've gone too far to the left, we need more compromise, centrism and bipartisanship, moving to the left would be insane

In hindsight, it was probably a mistake to put Neil Doncaster in charge of it all.

Well, Biden has won Arizona which is a huge step forward for him.

It looks likely (but not certain) that he'll win Michigan and Wisconsin, which would mean that he doesn't need Pennsylvania.
