If the ref has heard what Gardyne said and booked him for it, then surely what he heard wasn't racist as that would have been a red card? Obviously there could have been something said out of Beaton's hearing, but you'd think there'd have been a bigger reaction towards Gardyne on the pitch rather than towards Beaton if that was the case. The card could have been for something else and the comment did come from the stands rather than the pitch, we're not going to know until after the game.
