Ayr v Queens

Recommended Posts

Still toothless up front, but if we'd shown as much effort in the past few weeks we'd be in a far better place.

Good performances from a few in there - McKenzie, McCowan, Roscoe, Reading all decent.

Think we were a bit too cautious though. At about 70 minutes I'd have been looking for more positive changes.

A draw was enough for us to secure 6th place. With Dunfermline winning, a win was no good to us for the promotion play-offs.

Why wouldnt we time waste?

Potential late goals in the Dunfermline game I imagine.

Dreadful to watch, but we did what we had to do. The other results went our way anyway, but there was always the chance of late goals.

It was the sort of game that the only way a goal was going in was by accident....

Arbroath would have had to score twice in the last eight minutes.

Then, we'd be relying on Alloa to beat them next week, us to beat Dundee and, most unlikely of all, this gang of Ayr players to beat ICT to finish fourth.

All highly unlikely

TBF our defence is renowned for being an accident waiting to happen,  today it sounds like we got away with it.

A rather turgid 90 minutes as predicted by both sets of fans. A better all round performance by us but still glaring deficiencies in midfield and especially up front. Moffat made a huge difference dropping off the centre backs and linking play up with McKenzie who worked his socks off.

Onto next week and Arbroath have still got plenty to play for so at least you know a Dick Campbell team will be up for the battle. Last game shootout isn't great for the blood pressure and just wish we didn't have to go to Inverness either, even if they don't have anything to play for.

Draw against ICT keeps Ayr up...

Not a definite though. Morton win next week would see us on 31 points. And Arbroath would be on the same points if you drew the game. So it would come down to goal difference
