Clyde v East Fife

Honestly, I felt like playing the game on Thursday and East Fife covering Clyde's costs for Tuesday would be the fairest outcome if it was clear that the medical advice was for the game to go ahead and that had been clearly communicated to East Fife at the time. I don't get why the SPFL are just trousering the fine.

The fine is going to the SPFLTrust - ie to charity.

The fine ethical judgements generated by this season have been more interesting than the football.

With the rescheduled match due to be played only a little over a week later, I wonder if those East Fife players who were concerned about infection will want to be involved.

It back to the good old days when promotion and relegation was decided by how many seats each club had and who went bust at the end of the season and teh resulting legal challenges. Now it's all about covid disciplinary hearings and judges enquiries. It's like House of Cards.

Amazingly sensible. Hopefully we win tonight and Saturday then it's a pointless game.

Aye, and if it comes to it then a positive about our final game now being next Thursday is that at least we will know what's required, rather than sitting idle on Tuesday nervously awaiting on outcome from Dumbarton.

If we are safe in 8th by then it’s essentially a post season friendly. If we are already consigned to 9th by the time this match comes around we should just decide we don’t fancy it and take a £1000 hit to rest up for the play offs.

Really? Ok, Professor Coronavirus, how far away is safe?

The definition of a close contact has been laid out right from the start.

  • face-to-face contact including being coughed on or having a face-to-face conversation within one metre
  • been within one metre for one minute or longer without face-to-face contact
  • been within 2 metres of someone for more than 15 minutes (either as a one-off contact, or added up together over one day)

So does 'suspended' basically mean the £10k fine gets dropped as long as we behave ourselves until the end of the season?😂

Don't you go refusing to play again or yeez will be sorry, soyeezwill!

It's going to be tough. After all this, we might just decide to not turn up on Thursday, put Dumbarton into the play-offs for a laugh and take the ten grand hit.

Aye, do that. The fine will be covered easily anyway judging by the amount of folk on the replies to the SPFL twitter post re the investigation outcome suggesting a GoFundMe page.

If we end up in the playoffs, we will have 2 days to recover from Thursday’s game and will have to foot the bill for the additional game costs. This decision takes no account of the impact on Clyde who complied with protocols. Ultimately the SPFL don’t really give a toss if it’s not the Premier league they’re dealing with.
