In the year 2021 why is Grant Hanley anywhere near an international squad, let alone a starting eleven?

The purest definition of making the most of limited ability that there is in professional football.

I'm far from his biggest fan and think he's more a clumsy bomb scare than great defender. But numerous managers, including Sir Steve, have made him key members of their back line. So he must be doing something right.

Him against any sort of nippy or talented striker gives me the absolute fear. I'd have Cooper ahead of him all day long.

Tight game

Certainly rhymes with Tight !

Final pass or ball forward bar the Robertson cross for Dykes has been poor.

Probably best we get a reality check before the real stuff starts. A 5-0 win would have the media thinking we are winning the Euros.

We seem to be using long balls rather than going through the midfield.

Not sure it's working out so far.

McGregor offering nothing yet again. He’s a ghost of the player he was.

Edit: O’Donnell is offering nothing going forward, either.

Yeah, that’s only acceptable when it’s either Tierney or Robertson doing it, since they are capable of getting it to a Scotland player rather than hitting and hoping.

It would be absolutely peak Scotland to have been robbed of a victory against the Netherlands only to stutter to a goalless draw (or, if that near-OG had gone in, a loss) to Luxembourg.

Not pressing with anywhere near the energy of Wednesday night, seems like it's almost deliberate to sit back. Can understand if he's maybe trying the tactic out for the Euros but surely you'd use the Netherlands game to play like this.

Turnbull needs to play instead of McGregor, he's consistently pish or anonymous.

Anyone needs to play ahead of McGregor but I agree, Turnbull would be my shout.

I’d love to know how many of McGregors passes have been to Hanley or Gallagher.

Can see the doom merchants rubbing their hands already. Should be win this game on paper? Yes. Is it a national embarrassment if we don't? Absolutely not. Calm doon

Even when you see him make a 5 yard pass it's either short or astray, he's absolutely terrible.

Front two doesn't really work and three in midfield like this doesn't really work, just as we discovered at home to Israel in the play-offs, albeit with inferior players.

Adams and Dykes just doesnt work as a partnership.

We need a Fraser, Christie or Armstrong there to drop off the front into the spaces.

......

Wrote the above as Dykes assisted Adams 😂
