crowie
Saturday 21st August 2021 Broxburn Athletic 3-2 Crossgates Primrose Dundonald Bluebell 2-2 Sauchie Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts 1-0 Jeanfield Swifts Linlithgow Rose 5-1 Dunbar United Musselburgh Athletic 1-2 Hill of Beath Hawthorn Newtongrange Star 0-2 Lothian Thistle HV Penicuik Athletic 2-1 Camelon Tranent 5-0 Blackburn United Tynecastle 3-2 Whitehill Welfare Familiarity returned but saw creditable wins for Inverkeithing, HofB and LTHV (their 1st of campaign) and good away draw for Sauchie. 'Burgh finally lost. Penicuik extend their winning streak. Just for info, the Inverkeithing and Hillfield parts have been dropped from the club name and it’s now The Swift’s FC. Games now in Dalgety Bay rather than Inverkeithing.

Is that why the ball changed direction or did the forward just kick it out of play

Ultimately you are correct as the referee gave a penalty but as you say we will leave it there
tamthebam
Much to the bemusement of the Trinity College Cambridge and Durham University teams the East of Scotland League featured in a bonus question on University Challenge tonight. 1) Which town to the East of Edinburgh has a team called United and was the site of a 1651 victory for Oliver Cromwell? 2) Which flower features in the name of the team from Crossgates who play at Humbug Park? 3) Which borders town has a team called Royal Albert United?

The Battle of Dunbar was in 1650, not 1651. Also, I object to Dunbar being described as "to the east of Edinburgh". It took me a while to work out this was the battle they must have meant because Dunbar is fkn miles from Edinburgh. It's as near England as it is to Edinburgh. It's like describing Airdrie as a town to the west of Edinburgh. -
vikingTON
It's 26 miles east of Edinburgh, which is the nearest city to the town in the country. Greenock is 22 miles from Glasgow and only an absolute fruit loop would object to it being described as 'west of Glasgow'. The guesses of 'Fife', 'Thistle', and 'Pass (after discussing the merits of both Glasgow and Aberdeen as Borders towns) merited a 100 point deduction. The questions were about East League so the University teams would have known that Airdrie was WOSL territory

Marooneye
I think I was ridiculed somewhat a few weeks ago when I said it was a two horse race. Well my opinion hasn't changed.
Findla22
Definitely is looking like a two horse race! Nobody else will get near them! It just leaves a few teams fighting for 3rd!
