Robinho was indeed a coup for them, albeit he only signed because he was unaware there were two teams in Manchester and thought he was going to Man Utd. Adrian mutu. Christ forgot about that guy. Pure entertainment, tho mostly off the field. It looks likely Newcastle will sign at least one talented nut job going by Chelsea and city. I suppose it’s an ok short term shortcut, you get a talented player, you can afford a boring competent replacement for when their off on one and dumping them once you’ve got through that stage is easy. Any controversy on the club can be dismissed as transitional.

Bully Wee Villa
On 14/10/2021 at 19:58, Michael W said: Man City didn't start getting the big stars in immediately - if you don't have Champions League football, a lot of players simply won't be interested. Similarly Chelsea signed the likes of Damian Duff when Abramovic first arrived. They'll improve undoubtedly but it will not be instant. Because of Brexit they no longer have free reign over the European leagues either as any signings will need a work permit. A good opportunity here for established Premier League teams to fucking rinse them - £60m for dross like Fred or Origi perhaps. Getting a work permit is absolutely easy, and it is now much easier to sign non-EU players who haven't played for their countries, particularly from South America. The only things that have become more difficult are that they can no longer sign under-18 players from outside the UK, and can only sign six players from outside the UK and Ireland who are aged 18-21 per season, of whom a maximum of three can be in the winter transfer window. This is a decent link, if you're interested... https://worldfootballindex.com/2020/12/work-permits-premier-league-post-brexit-english-clubs-efl-libertadores/ Edited October 15, 2021 by Bully Wee Villa

senorsoupe
I have always liked Claudio Ranieri (and not just because my wife's last name is also Ranieri - no relation) but he has a big task with this Watford team. That goal was too easy for Liverpool

Bairnardo
"Trent" Give it a rest Jenas. England have loads of young players past and present who have been hyped to varying degrees, but I genuinely dont think theres ever been a bigger media campaign on behalf of a player than what we get for him. Totally disproportionate and I really dont get it.
