Steve McMahon probably the best known in recent years apart from McManaman. 17. Thought there would've more more over 100+ years to be honest. Of course there was a tendency for the Scots and Irish to return home to give birth before the qualification rules were greatly expanded which maybe contributes.
accies1874
Brendan Rogers has re affirmed his commitment to Leicester City.Welcome to Old Trafford Brendan. His reputation's only gonna get worse at Leicester. He's clearly a really good manager but his lack of longevity doesn't seem to get spoken about as much as it does with Conte or Mourinho despite it being a real issue with Rodgers.
Cptn Hooch
Not sure how much truth is in the rumours but the rumblings around social media are saying that Ole is giving his Man Utd payoff to charity. Hard to dislike the guy....even if he is a shit football manager

eez-eh
Some absolutely wild quotes from them: But the narrative has been hijacked by some people who believe that we, as football fans, should be doing something about the human rights issues in Saudi Arabia because our owner is from that country and has taken a role in running it. — Previously, United with Pride asked other clubs’ LGBTQI+ supporters to warn of any protests planned against Newcastle’s new owners. United with Pride said that it will then report the planned protests to both the club and stadium security to ensure protestors’ safety and to avoid any possible hostility from other Newcastle fans. The fan group also added that, although it welcomes travelling fans to St James’ Park, it would not be joining any public protests on matchdays. Not content with just burying their heads in the sand they actually want to grass to the club about any protests in advance. Talk about selling out.
Theroadlesstravelled
The Barclays might be the best League in the world but the best managers in the world are Germans.

Or Spanish. Puzzling that England has failed to produce any top managers in decades. Two Scottish managers have won the Premier League a total of 14 times, it's zero for English managers (below Chile). You wonder when it will eventually change but the new talent crop doesn't look great either. Graham Potter might have the best chance (and even he cut his teeth abroad). For whatever reason, maybe its mental finances, the English lower leagues do not seem to be a good breeding ground for top coaches.
Charles Stiles
Apparently, on Sunday, Carrick will be the first Englishman to manage Man United since 1986. Even at that it's going to be for one game as a caretaker. It's never fully clicked before about the total non-Englishness of the EPL. All the top clubs, and increasingly others, owned and managed by non-English with squads crammed full of foreign players. The Premier League brand they use was introduced through arrogance but the lack of 'English' in the title now couldn't be more appropriate.

Five clubs (Aston Villa, Brighton & Hove Albion, Burnley, Newcastle United & Norwich City) all have English managers. Of the other 15 their last English manager was... Arsenal - Donald Howe*, 1986 Brentford - Dean Smith#, 2018 Chelsea - Frank Lampard, 2021 Crystal Palace - Roy Hodgson, 2021 Everton - Sam Allardyce, 2018 Leeds United - Heckingbottom#, 2018 (last English manager while in the Premier League was Peter Reid in 2003) Leicester City - Craig Shakespeare, 2017 Liverpool - Roy Hodgson, 2011 Manchester City - Stuart Pearce, 2007 Manchester United - Ron Atkinson*, 1986 Southampton - Nigel Adkins, 2013 Tottenham Hotspur - Tim Sherwood, 2014 Watford - Nigel Pearson, 2020 West Ham United - Sam Allardyce, 2015 Wolverhampton Wanderers - Terry Connor, 2012 *pre-Premier League breakaway #not in Premier League when managing club
oneteaminglasgow
Looking at that list, it’s understandable why they don’t go for English managers. Tim Sherwood or Nigel Pearson for f**k sake.
J_Stewart
The complete lack of quality in this game is actually almost impressive. Both teams are utterly abysmal. Jonjo Shelvey- Jonjo fucking Shelvey - has produced the only minor bit of joy in the first 35 minutes with a semi-decent long range hit. Zero else.File under “not vintage Barclays”

At 22 years old Kante was playing in the French third division, eagerly awaiting his big move to the French second division. Those writing McTominay off are absolutely mad, he has been a regular for the last two Man Utd managers. And he is a limited player technically but he's outstanding physically and has an excellent work ethic - that will get a lot further than being someone like Ravel Morrison. The comparison I made is that he's actually someone a bit like Massimo Ambrosini - there will always be a place for people like McTomiany at top clubs. In the extremely unlikely event he leaves (I'll bet money he won't) for me it's more likely he'll follow the Tammy Abraham route to the likes of Roma than to go to Everton or Aston Villa. I like McTominay but I think part of that was Mourinho trying to recreate the Fergie thing of having a Scotsman of undefinable quality in the middle of his title winning teams. Scotty Tunbridge
Newcastle are rancid, Although I’d have fancied Bruce to keep them up more than Howe.

DrewDon
Watched Norwich v Wolves to see how the Scottish continent got on. I thought all three of them did well, although Hanley almost gifted Wolves a goal in the first half. I know he isn't a P&B favourite, but I thought McLean was genuinely excellent.
