TheScarf
Thankfully this is an isolated case where a complete joke of a club have embarrassed themselves yet again. They should've been chucked out the league at the start of the season when it became clear that they wouldn't be able to play any home games. Over the next 5 years, due to the pyramid, I think the HL will thrive and get stronger with bigger and more ambitious clubs that Fort playing in it. They can take their comedy roadshow elsewhere. I know a few boys who play North Caley and they're already dreading the bullshit and carry on Fort will bring to their league, if they actually get to play in it.

Any other season most likely but on recent form I think they would have had a chance if full strength which makes it all the more bizarre!

TheScarf
BOD beat both Fraserburgh and Buckie in regional cups this season and beat Nairn County 5 (going on 12 according to one of their players) 0 in the Scottish Cup, all in one off games, but Fort would have a chance over two games against them apparently.

And Fort only managed one win all season, against the perennially second worst team in the Highland League, Strathspey Thistle, along with BoD knocking Linlithgow Rose and East Fife out of the Scottish Cup, and holding Raith Rovers to 0-0 at half time. welshbairn
BTW Mcbookies were offering a very generous 1/5 for BoD to win, a much less generous 11/2 for Fort William.

Maybe the bookies paid Fort off not to play because even at 1/5 that BoD price is a license to print money.

How the hell did they get guys like that signed up? Were they chucking money around? They don’t seem to have been particularly wealthy. Surely a player would have to be basically full time to move up there (assuming that’s what happened)? They can’t exactly have commuted! Was a sponsor giving guys jobs with his business or something? There was a bit of patter on here that the chairman was basically hiring guys to work in the hospitality trade to play fitba on the side.

Hope some more clubs get licensed soon. There'll be a few more midland league teams soon, then Golspie and Fort will have no chance of promotion.

It begs the question why the NCL champions don't get a Scottish Cup slot if an SFA licence isn't required?

Since the East Region junior teams split for the EOSFL the East Region (now the Midlands League) doesn't have a Scottish Cup qualification spot for the league winners. East Craigie and Carnoustie Panmure would probably quite appreciate that bonus.

It does in the Scottish Cup rules, just that nobody has used it in the previous two seasons since there's been no winner.

Fair enough on that one then. The NCL definitely should also be included in that if they haven't been already.
