Good.

He's pure shite and we didn't want him anyway.

No way a Celtic man could manage Aberdeen to any sort of success. He'd be trying to lose games against them on purpose.

Wouldn't be much worse than our current record against them.

The main issue I've got with Goodwin is if he's going to be able to organise a team that can break the defensive sides down.

Scoring goals is a bigger concern. This is a guy who signed Lee Erwin and Curtis Main.

He does have an eye for a creative midfielder. But to counteract that he does also have an eye for a midfield enforcer. Hardly surprising mind.

Jim is still learning his trade it took months to realise a back three was not working with us on a 11 match none win streak. Granted he has changed it to a back four we have not lost a game since the start of the year. Goodwin certainly manages to find good players .

That is an issue - we have perennially struggled against teams particularly at home we should be looking to beat. It's improved this year since we went 4-2-3-1 and introduced better quality attacking players.

Goodwin's strengths are his ability to organise a side, get them working hard and playing for him - by all accounts his man management skills are very good.

His weaknesses are his lack of flexibility tactically - he gets one formation and then just runs with it, even if it's not working and takes too long to change. You will very rarely see him change formation during a game to counter the opposition. Until recently, his record in signing decent strikers was also very poor, though he is redeemed to an extent by Brophy and Greive.

Still be sad to see him go, I think he's a good manager but still developing.

Sounds as if Goodwin has met with Aberdeen already but Cormac has decided not to pursue him any further and now that Goodwin's head has been turned he's looking at taking up the reigns elsewhere, most likely down south.

Turning into a bit of a nightmare scenario for St. Mirren.

What does other options down south mean, Bradford?

Appointing a manager , trying to implement a new style, letting him overhaul a squad then sacking him During his first season makes no sense whatsoever.

True, but we were too bad. He had no solutions to the problems that faced us all season (conceding easy goals and not scoring goals)

Goodwin has made no secret of Managing the Irish Republic that's his number one ambition.  He would also like a shoot at a big club whether it is up here or down south is anyone's guess.

Aye but for him to be looking at other options down south surely options need to be available.

If Goodwin is not offered the Don's job he will be fully focused on Saints not applying for every job that comes along Ferguson is talking out his arse.

So;

Of the names linked so far, it's a real hodge podge of talent/reputation.

Ross; Most boring choice of the lot, hasn't had success working int be structure we want, only two young players of note hes helped unearth are Morgan and Doig. Not renown for exciting attacking football, which the club promised, and is more of a pragmatic sort.

Goodwin; Did well at Alloa and has done a steady job at St.M. Don't believe he has previous working in the structure we use, and very recently he said he was happy at St Mirren due to the "autonomy" he has on transfers. Something, I presume, with our model that he'd have to partly surrender. Hes not particularly known for his sides playing great stuff, they are more so determined and well organised.

Kjetil Knutsen;

As much as I prayed it would happen, it was never going to. Not because God isn't real but because he's probably the single highest regarded manager outwith Europe's top 5 leagues. The leaking of this information is quite clearly an attempt to placate punters, to give off the impression of ambition- so there isn't a fall out when Goodwin (an unimaginative option) is announced.

KK is also wildly different from the other two candidates. Surely if we were serious about KK and the type of coach he is, we would be looking at lesser versions of him on the continent?

Goodwin and Ross are miles apart from him, in every sense of their managerial capabilities and experiences.

The famous "we may be wrong but we won't be confused" is coming back to bite Cormack in the arse.

We appear very confused in our search for a manager.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the club haven't made any official statements on the search for a new manager.

So you're ascribing blame to the club for being confused on the basis of newspaper heresay.
