Extra washing lines outside, so that any dry day I have stuff hanging out. Extra driers inside for rainy days. Hoping to last the month to see the effect. Martin Lewis explained this last night, the sweet spot is about £125 a month, if that is what you pay at the moment on average over the course of a year then the £400 will basically cancel out the raise and leave your DD untouched. It has been a pleasant surprise to open that email.(I live in a house, a very wee house in the country, watching afternoon repeats with an air source heat pump, and can't remember how to switch the heating on. In my case, screens in the spare bedroom, occassionally stick something on the radiator if required quickly. Arch Stanton Posted September 24, 2022 Share Posted September 24, 2022 British Gas seem to be doing things differently from others (eg E-On) in that for the 6 months from October 22 to March 23 they will take your monthly direct debit but will then immediately refund you £67. Since my DD is currently £59 I have to assume that they'll refund me £59 and credit my account with the other £8. Seems a strange way to do it, I rather they just credited my account with the £67 each month. Does anyone know what's happening with the Warm Home Discount? My mother is 80 and got the £140 credited to her account last year. Means I will just have to make a manual payment each month for the £66 refunded back to me as I would prefer it to remain in my energy account.
