That yellow card could still have been given for stopping an attack, in which case it would still have been ruled out. Whether the foul is for a penalty or not isn't relevant.

A yellow card can’t be shown for stopping an attack if it doesn’t stop the attack.

It can only be shown as a downgrade from a red card for a foul that would ordinarily be seen as denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity.

Arsenal had a 4 point lead and momentum when this was meant to be played.

It was postponed to accommodate a Europa League game postponed because the Queen died.

Clearly an establishment conspiracy against Arsenal.

And that yellow card would still be able to be rescinded whether it was for a free-kick, penalty or whatever else.

Just now, The Master said:

I never said it wouldn’t.

If the booking is given for the foul for which the penalty was awarded, it’s rescinded.

Yellow cards issued between an incident and VAR pulling it back stand, except for those given for stopping an attack.

So let’s say a yellow had been given for a foul outside the box, but advantage was played and Haaland had gone on to score. If VAR still ruled the goal out, that yellow would have stood.

Didn't the world cup yield one of these or very similar, and there were a few folk on here arguing some "but where was the keeper meant to go!?" Nonsense

Aye. For a football forum, it's always a bit wild to see just how many people don't actually know some of the basic rules* at times.

Spoiler
