Yes, and (at least according to Wikipedia) he's played a total of 5 games since 2020

He wasn't on the bench in the EFL cup, it was Darlow who is now out on loan.

I don't know, I'm just looking at a list of senior goalies on Newcastle's books and after Pope and Dubravka it's Karius and Gillespie next. Either way Pope's moment of madness has given Eddie Howe a major headache

Sherrif John Bunnell
I've just seen the clip of the Pope red card. What an hilariously stupid thing to do.

Carl Cort's Hamstring
I can forgive the handball. When you look at it, he's just reacted completely instinctively to grab at the ball. The decision to head it in the first place though was completely insane. Just boot the f*cker into touch.

Miguel Sanchez
The Bald Fraud having a bad one with his team unable to finish against a newly promoted team having to draft in emergency centre backs and goalkeeper. Also quite funny watching England's Rose Phil Foden fall on his arse when he was clean through on goal.
craigkillie
The defending from Rodri for that Forest equaliser is one of the worst pieces of play I've seen from a player at any level. He just stops and stands still watching a forward running at him at full tilt.

Aye right.

Eddie Howe's mewling about the slippery surface and the injustice of Pope not playing in the cup final is about as pathetic on its own as his twelve months of apologising for the butchers who own his football club.

And Dúbravka is cup-tied. I know it's the League Cup, but I really don't like that a red card in a league game (for anything other than violent conduct / serious foul play) leads to you being suspended for a game in a different competition. Especially so when you consider Bruno Guimarães who was sent off in the Semi Final for SFP can play in the Final.

I think there's a point to be made about the inconsistency in how suspensions work for different competitions but yeah, it was about the clearest red card you'll ever see.

There were a few situations in the past where a player was booked in a semi-final and missed the final, but if they’d been given a straight red (for certain offences) they’d have been free to play. Changed now, of course, with yellow card records wiped before the semi-finals.
Ro Sham Bo
Leicester could already be at least a couple of goals up here.

I agree overall but I don't have any sympathy in this situation for exactly this reason. They've benefitted from the rule with one player and suffered with another, therefore they have no real case to complain now. I don't remember Howe having any problem with the rule when Guimaraes was sent-off in the cup and was allowed to serve his suspension in the league, so he has no right to complain when it's the other way round.
