This has possibly been bubbling for a few weeks. I read somewhere (possibly Daily Record Transfers Live) that he is a close friend of MB. Extract of an article from Anderlecht Online; "CEO Jesper Fredberg wants to reshuffle the staff towards next season. Among other things, the Dane is considering adding some old acquaintances of his to the staff and Robin Veldman might be the victim of that. Coach Brian Riemer is satisfied with Veldman's work and would like to keep him on board. The Dutchman himself would also prefer to stay with purple and white but would like to enjoy the full trust of his Danish bosses. Talks for an extended stay are in full swing but Veldman also enjoys interest from abroad. " The above article was dated 3rd May which was before the departure of OC. All speculation but if the 'interest from abroad' included us that would suggest OC was never going to be taking us forward. Would be good to get an announcement and start building a new team.
DA Baracus
Mike Mulraney on the radio was hinting that Queen's Park paid a pretty decent sum for the use of Hampden this season (he suggested the cash could fund the building of two or three more pitches).

The nearest convenient ground would be used if a ground were unsuitable. When former chairman H*** Sc*** was running us into the ground, we got Rangers in the cup at home. The Cowshed terracing had been ripped up in preparation for a non-existent seated area being put in. Hs suggested switching the tie to Ibrox (seeing the windfall) and the SFA told him to do one. The game was played at Love Street. I believe our share of the gate money was seized to cover some unpaid police bills. Keith had a tie with Rangers switched to Pittodrie. We had another at Gretna switched to Palmerston. Ayr even played Raith Rovers (or somebody) at Cappielow in one of the cups. That was because Motherwell's pitch, which Gretna were sharing at the time, was unplayable, rather than due to any inability relating to crowd size though. When Brechin's pitch was long terms unusable due to waterlogging in 2013, they played at least two games at Forfar in the league, one of which was the one we clinched the title in.

"We also secured a sensible return for the SFA to make sure that we can continue to build the funding that we need to get pitches throughout the length and breadth of Scotland. We need pitches." OK, exactly how much did we pay these f**ckers? He seems too happy about the deal.
Hampden Diehard
If it's a long term deal then it'll be for a few quid and that'll pay for Mulraney's pitches. Goes without saying that moving up a division now becomes more important to pay for it. Given that the SFA flatly refused to discuss QP playing at Hampden when they engineered our departure, this is perhaps a wee victory as we could never play Premier fitba at Lesser. What we do have now is an Option B and somewhere to go if it all goes tits up.

Presumably the club realised how badly another ground share miles from the southside would go down with the fans so I guess the SFA realised how desperately we needed to play at Hampden & priced the rental accordingly. On the plus side the club has a real opportunity to try & build support and saves the cost of bussing fans to Ochilview. Plus we have managed to cause outrage amongst a few fans of other clubs which is always a good thing. I wonder if there are any plans for a foreign jaunt like the Dutch trip last year. That trip was announced on the 13th June. Ideally you would want to have a manager & a few more players to go on such a trip.

Would possibly be a way round the couple of weeks of waiting for an employment Visa. He could just happen to be passing by whichever training facility we’re at in the Netherlands and volunteer to do some coaching.

Would be handy to have someone with an EU passport. Could probably fix up a few games with Dutch Jong teams and play our Young team, with a few aulder heids, rather than the other way around. The youngsters have another year and a few more pounds and would get a lot from that experience.
Bring Your Own Socks
Just journo chatter at the moment, but if true, kinda blows a hole on the mantra of a year ago when it was “great to be home” and “time to be part of a great project”. https://www.glasgowlive.co.uk/sport/football/owen-coyle-quickfire-management-return-27100852

If he's not in the backbone of the team (I'm not sure he should be) then we can save on his salary if he wants to stick with Owen.
Bring Your Own Socks
Eze wasn’t with Coyle in the year he won the league. He was there in Coyle’s first season. Second season Eze went to a div 2 club in Croatia and played only one game all season.
qpfc
Worth noting on the official website that when you click on the player profiles, almost all the players stats are re-set for the 23-24 except for; Longridge and Fox- Not signed as of yet so understandable Brown and Eze- Brown now departed, possibly Eze away then ?

On Hampden, Queen's have a facility at Lesser that suits the SFA needs down to the ground (no pun intended) so that will have been factored in, I would think. There's been some outrage amongst other clubs too, not just their fans. We've disturbed The Force around the smaller "big" teams.
