Broxburn Athletic

Recommended Posts

Thought we started a wee bit slowly today... and we rode our luck a wee bit (they're two efforts against the bar) but we ended first half on top and probably could have scored another couple... at least 3 goal line clearances from Glenrothes and a couple of good saves from their keeper.

Thought Glenrothes looked quite decent side, but Broxburn were just about worthy of the points. Thought we were excellent in the midfield today... pleasing start to the season!

Should of seen this game out comfortably but from unlucky finishing and goal line clearances and saves. Mainly one way traffic. My first time at Luncarty, I hope they have a good season.

Onto the next game against Dundonald

Couldn't make it up for this one... so had to find something a bit closer to home!

Great to get the win again... and good to hear plenty chances are still being created. Hopefully it continues, but 3 from 3 is a tremendous start for us.

Really made it difficult for themselves and could easily have dropped a point. They were hanging on a bit in the last 5 minutes of a game they dominated completely for 55 minutes and even for a long spell at 2-1. Need to be more clinical as Luncarty to there credit kept going.

 Nice wee ground and fans.

7 goals, a hatrick, players off injured, bookings for the bench, questionable refereeing decisions, coming from behind and then holding on for a win... cannae argue about value for money!

Really pleased with the win. Couple of great goals and we looked good going forward... at the other end though, some poor, soft goals to concede which made the game hard work!

4 from 4 can only be seen as a good start... looks like we can score against anyone just now, which is promising.

A case of "Job done" today. Comfortably through and the better side, with most of the play without really getting above 2nd gear for most of the match... you could see there were two divisions between the side. Happily into the next round and it was a good chance to rest a few and give a little extra game time to others.

The real disappointment was that, again, we just could not keep a clean sheet.

Absolutely delighted with the start we have made to the season, but that bad habit of conceding goals every game is gonna bite us eventually!

Finally a cleansheet! A nice win today, two lovely well taken goals and all in, a quite comfortable evening... the only real chance I can think of Penicuik having was the result of a mix up at the back.

It's been an unbelievable start to the season for us and nice to see us up on top on our own (well at least until Jeanfield play tomorrow)

Yes good to get a clean sheet tonight. Not a great game but two good goals and top of the league with 5 from 5.

Tough game on Saturday away at Sauchie (not got a great record there recently) but team seem to be finding a way to win so feeling a wee bit more optimistic than usual 🤣 🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩

I was at the game as a neutral and thought the home team played the better football, had better tempo, overall urgency to their game and ran out comfortable winners in the end.

Two well worked and well taken goals. Most of their good play went through the number 23, there was definitely a drop off in their play after he went off.

The home keeper had a save from a header from a corner in the first half and when the number 7 was clean through near the end. If one of those chances go in it could've been a more nervous night for the home team.

A nice ground, well stocked pie stall and friendly committee members as you enter the ground.

Referee was a bit inconsistent for both teams as well, the incident near the end when the home player looked clearly fouled out wide and it ended up being awarded against him wasn't a great decision let's say.

Anyway, best of luck to both teams for the season ahead.

Yes a fair summary of the game but it was littered with errors by both sides. the above two saves came at crucial times and as you said could have made it a different night.

How's the old Rose lads doing. Looks like a great start by Broxburn.

We are all pinching ourself over the start to the season. Been doing just enough to win each game..  but winning them.

Callum Bremner looked a wee bit lost and lonely in the midfield when he joined towards the end of last season (we were very short on numbers). But we've now actually added to the midfield, he has some company and really shows some nice touches, works hard to keep the ball and just keeps play moving. Scored an absolute belter last week too. A very consistent player so far.

I’d agree with that. Looked a player at times last year but had no support so like Broxburn struggled big time.

This year been really good with some quality midfielders in beside him. Needs to work a wee bit on his decision making (tries to do too much at times). If that gets sorted he will be outstanding for us.
