rubber_duck
One thing to learn from yesterday - nobody, absolutely nobody, should discard any foodstuffs whatsoever on the terracing. Those bloody gulls were horrendous after half time. Anyone found lobbing half eaten trays of chips should be forced to pick them up whilst being dive bombed by gulls then ejected from the ground. Possibly. Seriously though, what a pain they are.

However, it was the failure to cut out crosses/ clear the ball in defence for the goals that concerned me in terms of basic organisation and goal keeping. Also to not have one shot on target in 90 minutes is disappointing. Midfield did look solid in the second half with Lyon looking strong. Need to find another goal scoring forward and CB given Brydons unfortunate injury record. Listening to Murphy’s post match interview it was a bit gushin. , I do hope he is learning as we need to get off to a fast start in the league if we are to have the season we all want. He literally spends half the interview talking about learning.

It's been a problem for decades the only consolation is that it's a fairly short term problem, they usually disappear or reduce in numbers and are less aggressive for the most of the season. Bloody annoying just the same.

Yep the idiots dumping their food trays at their arses is the big issue and the problem won’t ever go away until folk use the bins provided.

Absolutely this. Even though some of the younger ones find it entertaining to cajole the vermin, straining my eyes eyes through two dozen gulls zigzagging about is migraine inducing (to be fair, the football at Palmerston latterly has been generally migraine inducing without the gulls). Just use the bins and don’t encourage them.
QOSQOS
In defence of the humble gull, as birds go they are both intelligent and resourceful and very good at taking advantage of human stupidity. They are here because we invited them in. Don’t leave food lieing about and they will go away….
Otis Blue
I see that Ruari Paton is rumoured to be off to Port Vale from Qu££ns Park for a six figure fee. Think he left us when his contract ended so I doubt there will be any benefit to the real Queens from this transaction.

We are already playing players out of position. Doherty and Dickenson are never wing backs McIntyre should never be in a 3 at the back but in saying that we really only have 3 fit defenders massive risk gambling on Church and Brydon fitness. We really need another experienced centre back especially playing 3 st the back . Kennedy is a winger not a forward . We are asking a lot for a 18 year old who has never played at this level to come in and get us goals . We really need pace and someone who can get us goals have seen all our games so far we just don't have a threat going forward .

If you're referring to yesterday Dickenson was on the left of a back 3 and McIntyre was wing back in front of him, that's how I saw it anyway. Hard to judge players against a team from 2 divisions above, Tuesday should give us a better idea of where we possibly stand but even then every team is still kind of at the experimental stage. Hopefully once the League campaign starts we'll be more settled.
Another Edin Doonhamer
Any comments on the official attendance figure of 2274? Surely they are having a laugh and going back to the bad old days of understating the attendance when it's a 'big' cup tie. If Aberdeen sold 1200, the main stand, no idea what the capacity is now but did it not used to be around 1300. Looked pretty full, 1100 maybe. And a good few hundred on the terracing. Thoughts?

Yeah, we went to all the trouble of putting in an online system to put out wrong attendances. We don't know how many Aberdeen actually sold but there weren't 1200 Aberdeen fans in the ground. I don't know the main stand capacity off the top of my head but you're way off with the number in it too

As @Fae_the_'briggs says, Dickenson was in the back three and MacIntyre was the left wing back, so you are you saying that MacIntyre was out of position as a wing back but shouldn't play in a back three either? When we have had pacy forwards in the past you have wanted a big target man. Now that we have a physical centre forward in the form of McIntosh you now say we need pacy forwards! You wanted us to sign Goss a few weeks ago, a player hardly renowned for his turn of speed! Make your mind up!

Do you place your opinion of him on roughly 130 minutes in the pre season games? No way is Johnston as you put it "miles ahead" technically. Agree with you on McLindon.Watched nearly every reserve game and he showed nothing. Come on Tam, wee Andrew shouldn’t be anywhere near a Queens strip. Likeable guy but sadly just not good enough. Was pretty poor in the various reserve games he played in. Heard Abbey Vale and Dalbeattie are favourites to sign him.

Aberdeen supposedly sold 1,200 and we were in the away end and looked like a combined 1,000 or so spread between the stand opposite and the terrace to the right so that would appear to be about right Edited July 15 by Wallsend
