Majority of the squad have re-signed I believe, and I think a few from the U17/U20 will step up, along with a few new signings.  Despite yesterdays result we do have a good squad, good enough to challenge for an immediate return but it will be a very tough league next season.  At least the derby with Whitburn is back!

Not sure re seating, probably alongside the enclosure or behind the goals. Good chance it will be in place by the end of the year.

See u next season Burnie.......,we've not had a derby game this season but have got on with the job of securing back to back promotions.

(After farting about in the juniors for way too long......)

The games vs Blackburn will be the highlights of the EoSFL 1st Division next season 👌

Apologies if this has been answered before, but with people confirming that Blackburn have been relegated, does that mean 4 clubs will be promoted into the EOS Premier as Linlithgow head to the LL?

Yes as noone is dropping down

Yes, unless Abbey Vale lose by 26 goals to Stranraer Reserves on Monday evening and Creetown then beat Linlithgow Rose over two legs in the promotion playoff. That effectively means yes in other words.

Fingers crossed they're not stuck away on a midweek date, around Xmas/NY is better for all concerned, and we're the only two West Lothian clubs.

Good club Blackburn as are Whitburn.  Hopefully both do well next season.

Isn't that roughly what the EoS fixtures try to do. Bundle up groups of 4 that are closest for international weekends/holidays to maximise turnout?

I did think they aimed international weekends as derby days.

I don't think they pay too much attention to geography or they wouldn't have had 3 attempts at scheduling Whitburn to visit Hawick in midweek.

Yep.

It was slightly different this season due to Qatar WC messing about with the international and Premiership calendars but routinely the main derbies are the September international weekend; with the returns on New Year weekend... then the other 4 matchdays in the allocation 'pools' are the October and November international weekends; with the returns on the SPFL winter breaks weekends (which also means every club get 1 H & 1 A on those and hence 3 H & 3 A overall).

Thus in this season's First Division you had:

Saturday 24th September
Luncarty v Kinnoull, Lochore v Rosyth
Kennoway v Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy & Dysart v Burntisland
Preston v Dunbar, Whitehill v Newtongrange
Camelon v Dunipace, Coldstream v Leith

and the returns:

Saturday 31st December
Kinnoull v Luncarty, Rosyth v Lochore
Burntisland v Kirkcaldy & Dysart, Glenrothes v Kennoway
Dunbar v Preston, Newtongrange v Whitehill
Dunipace v Camelon, Leith v Coldstream

then in 1st half of season during WC break you had:

Saturday 3rd December
Lochore v Luncarty, Rosyth v Kinnoull
Burntisland v Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy & Dysart v Kennoway
Newtongrange v Dunbar, Whitehill v Preston
Coldstream v Dunipace, Leith v Camelon

Saturday 10th December
Kinnoull v Lochore, Luncarty v Rosyth
Glenrothes v Kirkcaldy & Dysart, Kennoway v Burntisland
Preston v Newtongrange
Camelon v Coldstream
Dunipace v Whitehill,  Dunbar v Leith

and so on.

As someone who goes to most Scotland games I hate it when big(ger) games get scheduled on International weeks, in fact I think half of our committee will be in Cyprus in September for the Scotland game (Friday night) with no chance of getting back in time for our game that weekend, which I guess could be problematic.

Mind you, our designated "derby" this season was......Jeanfield Swifts!

Wonder what the odds on that scenario would be?

Makes me laugh actually - which is a good thing at the moment - he was totally ruined during the Junior to Senior transition.

Bottom line yesterday was we should have been 4 or 5 ahead at half time, failed to convert numerous chances, bar and post also involved, and Vale scored with their only real attack. Very early second half we gave away a penalty and were reduced to 10 men and the game was a bogey. Credit to Vale, they clung on first half and took their limited chances.  That's fitba, and in the end it was all immaterial anyway. a 10-0 win wouldn't have saved us.

We've punched above our weight for a few seasons now, promotion from the ERJFA South, followed by 5th in the ERJFA Premier, then qualifying for the EoS Premier, and managing to stay up (even without Covid intervention). For a small club like us without big finances or a big committee, that is an achievement.

The future is bright, U17's in the Scottish Youth Cup Final next weekend, the U20's still in with a chance of winning their LDL Conference, and plans for seating at the ground, so a lot to be positive about. Sometimes a step back is needed to progress, not that it feels like that just now.

First time at Vale of Leithen, great little club, look forward to next seasons visit.

Well said. Being relegated on the final day of the season was a bitter pill to swallow for Dunbar, last season.

However, if you take step back, digest the bigger picture, I think it will serve the club better in the long run.

Good luck to Blackburn. Not an easy division to get out of and a division that has proved that each team is capable of beating the next.

We hand the baton over to you, good luck, I would say next seasons Premier will be the most competitive ever. Not one side who you can point at and say they're a stick-on to win the title, or go down, and very few who can consider themselves above being dragged into a relegation battle..

Bitter pill - understatement.

The league table doesn’t lie though.
We are in a far better position - both on and off the pitch a year on.
