FTOF
26 minutes ago, djchapsticks said: The 2 shots on target part doesn't quite cover our dominance in front of goal in terms of chances created. Main, Brophy x 2, Baccus x 2 all had gilt-edged chances that whilst no on target, absolutely should have been. There were also at least 2 further instances where Ayunga and Brophy should have pulled the trigger a lot quicker than they did. This was all in the 2nd half alone. I guess I'm saying 'not fair' as a one goal win with only 2 shots at goal makes it sound like a Goodwin-era performance where where tripped and muddled our way into making chances then clung clung for dear life. That wasn't the case today. A lack of composure was really the only thing stopping us grabbing more goals and getting a lot more shots on target. It's been a completely different team performance this season thankfully. We gave a lot of possession away today, but our pressing game is so much better this season. We also look organised when defending the wide ball. The players know exactly where they should be and what their job is. The bonus is that, they're doing it well. We're also not relying on our our keeper to bail us out with multiple saves during the game. Although, Carson did make one superb save when called into action. I've been critical of Fraser, but he played really well in the last two games. Gallagher strolls through games and Dunne has stepped up his game. Strain is class and Tait's form has been a welcome surprise. The midfield three have been so hard working, and Erhahon has finally found a manager that seems to be able to "manage" him. He looks far more disciplined and focussed. Both O'Hara and in particular, Baccus have been outstanding. Ayunga wasn't at his best today, but still had an impact. Main has improved so much in his last two games, he's like a different player. He made Porteous a quivering wreck, with his constant gamesmanship. It was lovely to see. Both Kiltie and Brophy worked their arses off when they came on and Brophy should have scored at least one. He was really unlucky with the one that hit the post. Even Gogic, lacking in match fitness, looks imperious. Right at the end he effortlessly stifled a Hibs move down the wing, by escorting the ball and the player out of touch. He's going to be a huge player for us. It looks like Robinson and O'Carroll do know what they're doing. Long may it last! P.S. Practice with shooting and one on one with the keeper, are a must this week. Edited August 27, 2022 by FTOF
Lex
No...2 in a row, the draw with Motherwell and then another 2 in a row. Has Saints not conceded that stoppage time equaliser v Well it would have been 5 in a row. When Craig Dargo scored the last ever goal at Love St to beat HA 1-0 that was a 4th league win in a row.Eh? We won three Premiership games in a row last season. Last time we won four in a row was at Love Street. Perth?
Insaintee
Hibs huffed and puffed. Truthfully by the end we were coasting. The heat seemed to affect us second half and the subs could have come a bit sooner. Main and Ayunga put in some shift. Clearly we dropped too deep second half, but last 15-20 minutes Hibs looked totally rope-a-dope and we seemed to be able to pick them off at will (and then miss the chances). I know hibs fans are raging and the number one player I would be raging at is Porteaus. I can recall watching him in the u21 and I looked a great no nonsense defender. Now he looks like a nonsense defender. Not even booked to day, but could easily have been. Boyle was decent for you guys but you had nothing in the box except Doige who was a bit meh. What happened to Nisbet? I think you to be fair you looked way better than under Maloney. But still look like a bottom six side. Still time will tell. Could come good for you and for us it could all go to shit again. but I have to say the last time I felt as confident we would see a 1-0 out Oran Kearney was in charge actually must have been longer than that. It's just not how football works. Plenty of teams these days don't want to dominate possession. It's not their gameplan. And shots on target mean absolutely nothing in terms of dominance. You could put four open goals from 2 yards over the bar while your opponents have four tricklers through to the keeper from forty yards and 'win' 4-0 on shots on target. Is it news these days that a team can be in total control of a game without shots and possession? Amazes me people still do this. Agreed. That's 2 weeks in a row we've supposedly had 30% possession in both games, but no one could argue that we've been the better team in both by a country mile. I do find these possession stats slightly questionable though.

He needs dropped but we have no one to replace him. He won’t sign a new deal for whatever reason so he won’t be at Hibs next season. He also needs to grow up a bit and focus on his own game. Nisbet still injured and won’t be back until after world cup.

That's what I was saying (trying anyway), we scored on our first attack and this meant we were happy to play on the break, Hibs looked bereft of ideas especially after they missed that sitter just after H/T and by about 65-70 mins looked done and with better finishing we could and should have increased our lead in the last quarter of the match - Hibs clearly had no Plan B and I've rarely felt as comfortable defending a 1-0 lead against one of the bigger team. @Arch Stanton Last game on Sportscene. Arch Stanton
I was going to say "In years to come..." but the reality is "by this time next week...", the only stat that matters.

Which is pretty much what Robinson said in the post match interview on the radio. He said we let Hibs have the ball in certain areas of the pitch then we hounded them and when we won it back hit them on the counter. Not sure if we can get away with it all season but it's certainly enjoyable just now.

Nisbet still injured and won’t be back until after world cup. The two big lads up front - and Brophy when he came on - really unsettled him. He's far too quick to get involved in the nonsense and he's not smart or wily enough to keep composed when that starts. His pathetic dive in the first half that almost saw Ayunga go clean through was an embarrassment. If I was Johnson I'd have hauled him off for that. It's a shame because he has the makings of a decent player but he'll never get a decent move unless he screws the nut.
Captain Saintsible
Glorious Hibs offered nothing other than the Youann sitter. Lots of meaningless possession which Saints lapped up We passed up a load of chances to kill the game, Brophy x 2, Baccus x 2. But quite happy we missed these sitters in a game we won Whole team was excellent. Strain and Baccus are quality finds Dunne just strolled it. So too did Gallagher, Fraser and Tait. Love Ethan All great. We’re heading for top 6 Totally apologise to SR. I said my dead cat could do a better job. Very sorry Carson is too small though Edited August 27, 2022 by Captain Saintsible
