Players who carried your team.

Eremenko is the obvious one.

Sammon was laughably bad before he came in, and Losa turned him in to a 20 goal a season striker... who never once replicated that form.

He had Ben Gordon and Jamie Hamill playing the football of their careers. Again, they never hit those same performance levels.

He was so good he transformed those around him.

Don’t think there’s many individuals at Saints that have carried us, as it’s always been more about the sum of the parts.

But Steven Maclean was huge for us, both playing wise and as a leader on the park. It’s no coincidence in Stevie May’s great season 2013-14, for the few months Macca was out the goals dried up quite a bit for May.

More recently, the incredibly consistent and reliable quality of Ali McCann is appreciated even more now as we get dominated in midfield every single match playing the same formation he stood out in.  All Saints fans knew how good a player he was, but the low fee and subsequent midfield failings emphasise it even more.

Brian Graham in 14/15 was my first thought. We sold May then lost MacLean to injury, and relied entirely on him scoring in 1-0 wins was my memory, but it turns out O'Halloran matched him goalswise that season.

Both got 9 league goals in a season our entire club managed 34.

Bit of a weapon of a guy by all accounts but, Celtic fans of my age will recall how John Collins was, for most of the early 90's, the only stand out player in a Celtic jersey, shudder to think how we would have fared without him.

Always wonder how ironic it was he left in 1996 when we were just beginning to compete with Rangers financially and bringing in a higher calibre of player.

From what I read on here he could also be attributed to stopping Patrick being Relegated to league 1 under Caldwell.

He absolutely did. Joined the club in mid-February, still ended up our second top scorer that season.

We would categorically have been relegated instead of Falkirk without him, and for that I think the whole of Scottish football owes him a debt of gratitude.

While it was really just a meaningless mid-table season, the most obvious difference one Morton player being in the team has made to results in my recollection.

First Division 2008/09

Morton with Allan Jenkins in the starting 11: P20 W11 D5 L4
Morton without Allan Jenkins in the starting 11: P16 W1 D6 L9

Title winning form with him, bottom by a mile form without him.

Because we've mostly not capitalised on revenues after cup runs/Europe/selling players etc. it's been a litany of one player every time we've been in trouble that's helped us.

Most recently Watt, he left and we fell off a cliff and limped to May also had a batshit gaffer. Made all the sweeter that he's not recreated the form for the Arabs.

Turnbull as Oats pointed out, opted for Celtic over Norwich as promised more game time. Now a bit part player as he's not favoured by Zorba but more importantly, not Japanese. Ably assisted by Jake Hastie who fell off a cliff which all cliff falling should be measured.

McDonald being a lippy wee shit coached those around him and baracked the defence. As Busta conveyed, he delivered the goods a few times, again made sweet that the SPFL decide to show "that" double every year on his birthday, much to his annoyance.

Coyne and Cooper raised the standard and brought those around along with them over prolonged periods. Ally Maxwell carried the 91 Cup Final.

High hopes our 6'3" French striker signed from Gillingham starts vibing as above ASAP .......

Martin Hardie in the 2nd half of the Gretna season. A colossus.

Man was possessed for that run. Just seemed to batter everything in sight. That image of him in tears at Hamilton still gets me.

Kenny McLean in 2014/15 was more or less being a one man show in dragging a team that should have been long dead out of a relegation battle.

Then we sold him to Aberdeen in the last day of January and we went into a terminal decline. We only won one more game between then and May by which point when we did pick up a few end of season wins, we were already long gone.
