I recall the performative ignorance from the "journalists" - hundreds dying was the last thing on their minds.

Nothing's changed tbh.

Can't remember who it was now but there was a journalist who had just finished his questions to sturgeon and not realising his mic on the video call was still live, waa boasting and laughing with colleagues about how he'd really given it to her(with his questions, before someone inserts Kenneth).

Journalistic standards in Scotland are terrible across the board tbh

Is this Jedi making stuff up again? I'm shocked!

My recollection was that Humza said that a majority would be taken as a mandate to open negotiations with Westminster. I don't recall any mention of UDI.

Whilst my preferred method of beginning negotiations would be through winning a referendum, it does the Yoon side no favours to continually tell lies about the position taken by Indy supporters.

So Jedi, how about you either provide a direct quote from Humza threatening UDI, or stfu?

I went looking for footage of that quite extraordinarily bad behaviour that gave the game away but couldn't find it. I do though recall Tom Gordon with his pomposity tazer turned up to max asking what he obviously thought were daily smart questions. His idiocy far outweighed his pertinency

So, @lichtgilphead a 'withdrawal agreement' being drawn up with a 'majority' of seats 'isnt' UDI...rather think it is, maybe need to stfu as well.

It would do you great credit if you would extend yourself to the foothills of credibility

This made me very uncomfortable.

I don’t want to be unkind to Gillian MacKay, events like this must be difficult. But there seems to be a massive outpouring of emotion over all this that’s seems out of kilter with what has happened.

Do you even know what UDI means, @Jedi2

If you look up the article in the National that you've referenced above, you'll find the following quote from Humza

""So if we win that General Election, we will therefore seek that mandate to negotiate with the UK Government on how to put that proposition into democratic effect.”

That's not UDI.

Do you want to try again?

His staying on is the perfect scenario. Obviously the VONC in the govt will fail as the SNP won't back it.

Means that he has to get to the GE as leader shouting about a 1 seat majority is enough for UDI, while struggling to get Bills passes in Holyrood and having Regan barking at the moon in Cabinet.

Sounds pretty shite tbh

A withdrawal agreement would have to be ratified by both parties which is sort of the opposite to a unilateral declaration.

That Gillian Mackay interview.

Fat Cunt

Indeed and especially as she is flat out wrong. Self indulgent twitter and bubble debate has seen to them.

Patrick went rogue and every interested grown up sucked air as he ended his career and his party's influence.

You can spin the Humza whatever way you like...he also has previous with his 'line one, page one in our manifesto..do you want Scotland to be an Independent nation'.

The GE tactic is still to push a win of any kind (even by 1 seat) as a 'clear' mandate to say 'The people of Scotland have spoken and backed Independence. Therefore we will now negotiate the terms of that with the UK govt'. That is how it is being sold to the public

Whether in those circumstances 'the terms' became another Ref, or, read another way from his own comments, that there is then a mandate to draw up a Withdrawal agreement doesn't really matter.

The fact remains that he enters the election on the basis that (any) SNP win is a trigger for Scotland to then be an Independent country.

Question is...are they in good shape now for that to become a reality this year?

That is a long winded way for you to admit you were wrong

Question is...

Are you going to do the honourable thing and retract or persist and lose any shred of credibility that you may or may not have had?

I see it going one of 2 ways:

1) "Don't back down, double down"

or

2) Jedi2 leaves the forum, then slithers back on as Jedi3 in the next month or so

You are right of course...the general public in Scotland won't see Yousaf's rhetoric as 'get the most seats and that's us Independent' after all

'Credibility' from staunch supporters of the Humza 😄

Only an absolute moron would interpret Humza's statements in that way.

Oh...
