Partick thistle vs Queens park

Recommended Posts

Second half was really impressive after such a toothless first half performance. Turner and Mullen have stood out as two guys who have really shone since Doolan came in, and 7 clean sheets in 9 games under Doolan with a defence which is now down to literally 4 available defenders is  very good. Still think we're too far back for 1st but QP are definitely taking on water with not much time to turn it around and second is definitely on.

Hadn't seen any of our games Vs QP this year but outside Thomas they offered nothing, big Eze at the back could bench press a horse but turns like an oil tanker and Turner and Tiff had him on rollerskates for most of the game. I'm sure Tommy Robson must have been decent til this point and I know he's scored twice against us , but he looked very much like the Tommy Robson of Partick Thistle tonight. The QP form can't all be down to Murray leaving though as they did well enough just after he left, must be more to it.

Doc and Banzo at their imperious best tonight easily snuffing out any Boateng threat.Wee Stevie also back to his unplayable best after a sluggish couple of weeks recovering from injury and Holt just magnificent in defence and attack .

QP just look bang average and lacking passion which must be more worrying for their supporters and Coyle….but not my problem….have a nice weekend and come on the Red Lichties.

That's a bold statement...

Are you not entertained? Second half was as good as we've played all season.

Doolan continues to get a tune out of this squad. More than likely too late for the title, second place depends on how far QP have capitulated.

Going into a playoff series, with good form and a good attitude, is key to progression.

A big game next Saturday, and will give us a good idea if we are looking at 2nd, 3rd or 4th in the playoffs.

TL;DR.

Thank you.

Time to put on your big boy pants Queens and get the confidence back in the team which look splintered at the moment.

It's almost although we've been told to throw it...

It's almost like they are learning from Gretna's mistake.

Nothing in common though.🤫

That same thought did occur to me. Maybe the SFA knocked back Hampden for next season?

They brought 300 to the Glasgow Derby, why on earth would they get Hampden? Shite you come away with.

1st half was very even (both teams were as poor as each other). 2nd half we were excellent, once we got the 1st goal QP’s bottle went and the 2nd looked like it would come soon enough which really sealed the game.

Turner and Holt possibly the standouts but Bannigan and Lawless were terrific as well, and despite not scoring Graham was heavily involved in a few of the goals (the flick to McMillan for the second goal was sublime).

We’ve stuffed up too many times so won’t win the league IMO and will look back at certain matches with real frustration but we should still be in with a good chance of play offs (2nd place preferably). 9 games under Doolan, 1 defeat, 7 clean sheets - he’s settled right into management it has to be said.

Three Old Firm games, Hearts, Hibs, Aberdeen. It was their home for around a century.

Where would you have them play if you were their Chairman? Lesser will only accommodate ~2,000 with temporary stands, as things stand. It's the obvious choice.

But haven’t Queen’s Park chosen that to be the case?

QP sold Hampden (understandably) so the fact it was their ground for a century makes little difference to your argument.

Queens Park playing the “oh shit we are top of the league but we really don’t want to go up card”

Up here that’s called ‘The Buckie Thistle’. A club who win HL a lot, or are least are always in the title race, but were the only club in the league to vote against the pyramid.

Actually, no they haven't. The SFA threatened to play all internationals and cup finals at Murrayfield, and essentially blackmailed the club into selling them the ground. If they won promotion to the premiership, then it would make sense for them to play at 'Greater' Hampden.
