Jambos v Buddies 8th April

Recommended Posts

Much as Saints fans will enjoy this position today let’s not underestimate the vast difference in budgets and resources available to Aberdeen, Hearts, and Hibs.

Going into the final few weeks the odds are still stacked against St Mirren (and Livingston) of being higher in the final standings.

Sadly this is true. As much as it looks unlikely at present, I'd be delighted if Livi overtake Hibs as that would give us the best chance of top 5.

Genuinely, unless he’s on about the streaky away win against bottom-seed Riga - or the meaningless return win when they were out of Europe’s third rate completion after just four games - then what the f**k is he on about?

A 5-0 against a side who’d stopped playing for Jim Goodwin and still somehow deserved to beat you that night too?

Let's not kid ourselves, Conference league or not bar the two cheeks we would all take group stages of that any season.

Hearts' form is poor, but you need to contextualise things a bit.

Similar to last September/October, Hearts have just finished a run where we've had seven games where only one of those was at home to a non-OF side. We've been pumped by Celtic twice, and had poor showings away from home.

But the last seven games against non-OF teams at Tynecastle we've won 3-1, 3-0, 1-0, 5-0, 3-0, 3-1, 3-0.

But we've only had one such fixture in the last two months. Just the way the fixtures work.

So, it's obviously not been good, but I'm not sure our recent form is as huge an issue going into this as it looks. We turned things round in the autumn after having no home games against non-OF teams for about two months. Win the two we have before the split and things will look better. Don't win, however, and it gets ugly.

These St Mirren peasants have blown your stats out of the water.

The frustration for Saints fans is that we really should have beaten them last time in Paisley and got a draw at previous game in Edinburgh.

That would have resulted in a 6 point swing between Hearts and ourselves.

I'm afraid I slept through the whole thing. How did "Scotland's third force" get on?

A number 1 is a pish

A number 2 is a shite

A number 3 is a Hearts

This must be the son of one of these muppets!

Spotted today in the Hearts Ned section of the main stand.

Just missing his bunnet and a few other supporters by the look of the empty seats.

Proletarians good sir not peasants.

Ours is an industrial past.  As a fanbase we lack rural skills - say for example livestock handling or operating a tractor- that are prevalent  in the fanbases of other teams.
