Montrose v Falkirk 11/04/23

Recommended Posts

That went from being comfortable without being great to near arse collapse after Montrose scored. 3 points play off place secured. But we absolutely have shitebaggery about us when the going gets tough and you just know it's going to cost us ultimately.

Probably 2-0 up v Celtic in the final and chuck it away 😔

Note: not entirely serious here.

How are Allan and Burrell linking up?

Allan's gave McGlynn absolutely f**k all to think about for his team selection on Saturday. Looks right low on confidence which obviously isn't helping. I'd have kept him on tonight in the hope he got himself a goal.

Burrell wasn't much better to be honest, missed a right good chance in the first half.

Should have scored 5 or 6 there. Some genuinely terrible misses and decision making.

As usual our ropeyness at the back nearly cost us. Their goal was just a high ball from the keeper, and think we lost 3 or 4 50/50's along with a terrible clearance from McKay for good measure.

Got to be honest I think the multiple second half substitutions tend to do more harm than good when the team are playing well.

Disrupts the rhythm and can put us on the back foot as we saw tonight.

4 subs per team in a game is enough.

Completely agree, it's happened on many occasions this season. I can accept it a bit more tonight due to us trying to avoid injuries and suspension considering the play-offs and semi-final but there's no doubt that previous sub decisions have affected our performances.

It's almost like he feels obliged to make so many subs because there are so many available to him.

I hope he does well for you as he worked very hard at Clyde but I’ll be surprised if Jordan Allan ends up as more than a squad player for you guys. He scored a few goals for an absolutely rotten Clyde team (no mean feat) but his overall play leaves a bit to be desired. He’s still young enough to improve within a full time environment, of course.

Maybe unfair that both times they've been paired together Morrison has been on the bench so depriving them of the chances he creates.

Hmmm not sure about that.  Would expect more from them against a shambles like Montrose have been tonight.  Burrells energy levels were far higher on Saturday and he should have done a lot better with the chance he had.  Can't think of an Allan chance that he looked like he might do something with.

He had one saved in 8 minutes by a good save, shot wide when he should have hit the target and just before he came off he put an open goal over the bar.

Decent 1st half performance but a poor 2nd half.

Piss poor 1st half performance but better second half (from a Mo perspective). As many have said, we've gone backwards.  Our first half of the season has saved us from being in a dog fight with Clyde and Peterheid. We lost all our loan players in January and never replaced any of them. Possibly resting on our laurels to save cash based on the early season results. We'll see what Petrie is really made of next season because we've still got the majority of the team that got us promoted 6 years ago. They are an ageing group and will have to replace a few players soon.

You can have Matty Wright back if you want?

You have also signed a sick note in Williamson. The boy just cannot avoid injury, good luck to him at Montrose.

That first half was nothing short of embarrassing. First time I’ve seen a Montrose side not be organised or willing to run the hard yards. I think there was an instance when there was a counterattack and Blair was the only one in the box after all his hard work and all the other lads were scratching their arses in our own half! Maybe that’s due to the aging squad but then the buck stops with Petrie. Quite a few of the older guys are tied on for next season when it’s been clear for a while they are not league 1 level. On another note was very pleased to see the academy lads get a proper run out, particularly impressed with Luca who clearly did not shy away from a challenge and a bit of running which is what we need. Better than Watson and Gardyne that can’t be arsed.
