I thought that way once when I was flying down to Southampton. The boarding call was made, I said to myself "I'll sit for another 10 minutes or so as boarding always takes time". About 3 minutes later came a call asking me by name to board or miss the flight. The flights not leaving until it's scheduled time and boarding is complete. Priority Boarding is one of the simplest scams ever invented to part fools easily of their money. Exactly right. ETA - we usually try to avoid taking anything on board these days apart from small hand luggage that fits underneath the seat, but it’s not always possible.
