Let's play fantasy for a minute. How well do you think the top 12 clubs would do in England and the other 30 clubs?.  I can see Rangers and Celtic mid table and in few years. These would be challenge for top four spot but how about the rest .

You're either incredibly fucking thick or are at it.

Are there any clubs with 50-60k attendances who aren't challenging for the top 4 most seasons in England?

Attendances stop being relevant after a while though due to the TV, sponsortship, prize and advertising money clubs get, as well as wealthy owners. Brighton finished 6th last season. Brentford finished 9th. Spurs finished 8th with a huge stadium.

Newcastle were getting 50k crowds and doing nothing for years until they got pumped full of dirty blood money.

Why would Sevco and Celtic suddenly be better than a team like Aston Villa or Everton?

Attendances are still relevant though, smaller clubs might occasionally do well for a couple of years when they make good decisions, and bigger clubs might struggle when they make bad ones, but in the long-run the clubs with the biggest attendances will be the ones challenging at the top.

Newcastle were a long-term basket case with an actively terrible owner who wasn't even trying to put a good football team on the park.

If thrown into the #barclays:

Aberdeen - relegated down to L2 in successive years

Celtic - 17th, saved only by Luton, Everton and Sheffield Utd

Dundee - relegated 5 years in a row to the NLN

Hearts - relegated, settle around L1/L2

Hibs - relegated, settle in L1/L2

Kilmarnock - relegated, straight into non-league by 2028

Livingston - relegated but bought by the Saudis, instant bounceback and champions of Europe by 2028

Motherwell - relegated and settle in the National League

Rangers - relegated down to the championship, float around the bottom half there. #bealemuststay

Ross County - relegated and go bust, hit by fines for racism.

St. Johnstone - cup double for legal reasons, still relegated to the 8th tier by 2035.

St. Mirren - relegated :)

Sevco & Celtic would, in my opinion, be on a par with the likes of Villa, West Ham, Brighton, Tottenham - if they operated in the same financial landscape as those clubs. No reason why they couldn’t attract the same calibre of player as those English clubs, if they weren’t being asked to play on Livingston’s plastic or enjoy glamour trips to Dingwall. If the uglies were going to Old Trafford, Anfield and The London Stadium week in, week out, they’d be able to compete with the Aston Villas of the EPL no problem.

If the uglies were suddenly shipped to the EPL as they currently are, without suddenly being showered in untold millions, they’d be slightly above the relegation spots IMHO. They’d likely do better than four or five clubs down there at present.

The rest of us would get rogered, as Hibs showed against a non big 7 club down there. Any chance we can ship the uglies down there to get rid? Nah, shame. We’re stuck with the kunts.

Is this Cockwomble?

All the threads that you have started have been about changing formats. Going by your suggestions we would all be playing our reserve teams in summer football in a 400 team uk league.

Shite you come away with.

Sounds braw. Might need to enlarge the squad slightly to cope with the demands of 3+ games every day.

Possibly, but what would prevent them being like Everton currently are? Or going down like Leicester did? Or doing nothing for years like Newcastle did?

TBF, the bigger the brand, the more money you can make/spend in England. Celtic and The Rangers have more brand potential than any of those 3 clubs.

They could, obviously, be pish. No guarantee of anything. Leeds are a big club, look at them too. As much as I dislike both of them, I do recognise the uglies are big clubs. Celtic, had they kept Ange, and were in the EPL with EPL money? I reckon they’d be OK. Sevco with Beale? Hurrumph.

Do they? How big a brand are they worldwide? We hear this stuff often here but in Asia and Africa are there loads of folk kicking around with Celtic and Sevco tops? Or are there more folk wearing Leeds, Aston Villa, Everton, Leicester tops etc?

Nobody will convince me that if dropped into the English setup with the financial rewards that come with it, Hearts and Hibs wouldn't be troubling the upper end of the Championship within a couple of years.

If someone is offering £50k a week to live and play football in Edinburgh vs somewhere like Middlesbrough or Blackburn, there's only one winner.

There would be, if the big Glasgow uglies were in the EPL. That’s the point. Are we talking about the ugly sisters as they currently are - interest in them in places like Australia, Canada etc? Or are we talking about the uglies as they would become - operating alongside Liverpool, Man Utd & Co. In the EPL, uglies shirts would appear everywhere. Same as Spurs or Arsenal. Not happening though. Funnily enough, it might be something that diluted their sectarian bollocks - if they had new, big rivalries with so many different dlubs, rather than the one big rivalry against each other. Again, all just idle chat on a forum.

Despite the evidence right in front of your eyes?

Hearts and Hibs have won two about trophies apiece in a quarter of a century, despite having top 5 budgets, dwarfing the rest of our top league. Within that time they’ve both played multiple seasons in the second tier.

But if they moved to England they’d suddenly become well run and successful??!!

If they were parachuted into that system and had the trappings of the budgets offered in the second tier of English football? Without a shadow of a doubt.

Given SPFL level budgets in the second tier of English football, they'd sink like a stone.

You'd need to be pretty fucking mental to believe that Edinburgh wouldn't be a draw for a footballer if the money on offer was equal to other clubs in the English Championship. It's exactly why nothing clubs like Fulham, QPR and Brentford regualrly flirt with the upper reaches of English football. Location location location.

I’ve lived and worked in Edinburgh and Middlesbrough.  Give me Middlesbrough any day. Salt and sauce in their chips FFS.

Possibly, but then we've seen teams like Sunderland, Bradford, Portsmouth, Charlton, Bolton, Reading, Blackpool, both Bristol teams, Derby, Wigan, both Sheffield clubs, Leeds, Brighton, Coventry, Huddersfield, Hull, Ipswich, Leicester, Luton, Norwich, Nottingham Forest, Southampton, Swansea, Wolves and others in League 1 this side of the millennium. What would stop Hearts and/or Hibs dropping down like that? What would make them immune to a bad managerial appointment and/or shite player recruitment and/or bad luck with injuries to key players?
