Livi v Celtic

The reaction to Martindale’s comments are quite something.

It’s really funny that choosing to support the team that wins everything isn’t enough for some of them, you also have to demand that the rest of us give Celtic plaudits for steamrolling teams with a fraction of their budget.

One of my colleagues attended Glasgow School of Art at the same time as David Martindale and says he's always been a Celtic fan.

Ah but his wife's brother's postman's poodle groomer said he's a sevco fan?

Complaining about Martindale saying we gave away cheap goals, i'm sure Celtic fans wouldn't be saying the same if they gave us a clumsy penalty, their keeper and defenders getting in one another's way for a 2nd, and a player losing possession twice in midfield leads to a ball up the pitch ending up at a player who isn't closed down, and he rattles in a 3rd. He actually said Celtic showed more energy at that point and deserved their 3rd goal.

We should just all fall at their feet after a defeat and blow smoke up their arses at how wonderful they are though.

Though we had a lot better chances before the sending off. prior to that; the high-line of Celtic defense meant that both Anderson and Sangare got space to break away from the Celtic central defense who seemed pretty flat footed at ties.

After the sending off the defensive line moved back which left us starved of chances.

One thing that was patently apparent was that Parks is far too slow to play in a back three. Whilst Penrice was on he at least had a bit of cover but afterwards was totally exposed.

Generally I though none of the substitutions worked, Kelly was perhaps the most effective but generally we lost all shape. Have yet to see anything from Lawell that even justifies his place on the bench. On current form, if he's better than Lloyd and Mackay, then we have deeper issues.

Lawal floated about and made the odd pass, didn't do anything wrong but it was a big game against the Champions for him to be coming on as a sub, prob not the best time for bringing him on. Bradley looked rusty and gave away possession with poor passes a few times, obv needs game time to sharpen up, and again this wasn't the best game for him to start getting any. Don't know if any of our subs would've made that much of a difference though, we really needed a goal in the first half when we were 11 v 10 and had a bit of momentum going into the break. Conceding the 2nd killed the game though, was too easy for Celtic to game manage us after that.

I've always found Martindale's post match interviews pretty honest, even after our dreadful back to back 3-0 away defeats last season against St Mirren and Motherwell he admitted he got our starting line up and tactics all wrong. Last game he said we nicked a point off County and they had the better chances.

Manager's also always look at goals from their perspective on how they could've been prevented, and all 3 yesterday were actually cheap giveaways, the first 2 especially, and at crucial times when we were doing ok. The 3rd was a cracking goal, well hit but you have to also look at how badly we defended it.
