Livi v Celtic

Recommended Posts

That was  a heartless defeatist  performance, riddled with mistakes, bad defending, nobody in central midfield , the structure tactics was clueless ,midfield playing as defenders, 8 at the back at times and still managed to ship 3 goals,  pinging  the ball about at the back in the second half with no urgency  De Lucus and Penrice launching long balls into orbit .Nouble  cant get by a man since his injury, players constantly slipping with their skating  boots

Pittman and Shinnie happy to sit deep with no penetrating runs ,no wingers, what was Penrice supposed  to be doing

Anderson and Holt done well enough today, the rest were poor, I don't  think players know what system their trying to play

Sangare was utterly woeful, he's not ready for these types of games and that's obvious. Luiyi, penalty aside, had a good game. Obileye looks shaky as ever in a back 2 pairing. Shinnie and Holt had limited time and space to work with even against 10, Penrice had the run of the left but rarely got the ball. Bruce is a better target man than Nouble and Guthrie combined which is saying something

Saw someone mention it before but Nouble has Myles Hippolyte syndrome, only performs better when the cameras are on or it's Rangers/Celtic. He wasn't great today though, his head has absolutely gone now that his move didn't materialise.

We sorely missed Mick Devlin today, Montano as well. Unfortunate not to take something after they went to 10 but that's the quality Celtic can afford with the riches available to them.

We won't be judged over a season on games against Celtic/Rangers so it was a free hit in the end.

Really disappointed we couldn't take advantage of a less than impressive Celtic. Couple defensive brainfarts didn't help, but we offered absolutely nothing going forward.

Ah well, who cares

Yep, game was there for us to get something, but we were far too feeble in our shooting, and apart from Anderson and Pittman's effort early on, we never looked like scoring. Nouble nicking the ball in their box was best chance 2nd half, but thought he should just have taken a touch and hit it at goal, instead of trying to lob their keeper. A goal would've made things interesting for us at 1-0, or even 2-0, but ended up Celtic just cruising it, and the 3rd goal showed the difference in the quality of finishing between the two teams.

Thought we pressed them well in the first half, and the sending off seemed to shake Celtic for a spell, they were knocking it out the pitch and giving away loose passes, but we really needed to get a goal back to put pressure on them.

Heyho, onto Wed night at Ibrox in the quarters.

Maybe it looked different in the stadium, but Sangare looked like he had his best performance for us IMO. And De Lucas looked nowhere near as comfortable in a 2.

Spot on about Nouble, Devlin and Montano. Nouble's our best player when he's on it, but he looks like he's counting down the days to the summer already. I questioned the number of CBs that we signed in the summer, but we already have too many out for us to be able to play 3 at the back. Parkes showed why he hasn't been rushed back, he didn't look fit.

But hey ho, it's Celtic, we expect to lose these. Onwards.

This game should have suited Nouble well. We generally play with a high line and our defence isn't particularly tall or strong. He's clearly chucked it as he didn't look arsed at all.

Yeah thought Sangare was having a decent game first half, but he doesn't seem fit enough to last a whole game and faded in the 2nd half. Brandon going off for Bradley wasn't a like for like, but we changed shaped going to a back 3 and on the whole none of the substitutions helped improve us any, if anything when the rest of them came on we just fizzled out the game. Bradley looked well off the pace too.

First half of last season was his best spell, absolutely bossed Sevco's defence, they were taking turns fouling him, picking up a booking, because he was just too much for them. 2nd half of the season the whole team dropped off, and Nouble wasn't anywhere near the player in that first half. Apart from the Hibs away game Nouble just doesn't look interested, had a cracking game against Hibs but that has been it.

We're also missing not having Montano, he is good at making driving runs up the wing and getting us balls into the box.
