Norway v Spain - Sunday 15/10/23

Recommended Posts

It’s just guesswork at this point. It’s so subjective as to how far back you go, who is or isn’t interfering etc.

Refereeing is always subjective but it almost looks like it’s harder for refs now, because the quest for never making incorrect decisions is just putting every little aspect under the microscope.

VaR and the statto crew have sucked the fucking life from the game. Goal or no goal.

In fairness, Spain have been ahead in the game on expected goals (xG) and expected threat (xT) and field tilt has been in their favour too.

When the last ‘attacking phase of play’ (APP) started. A button is pressed in the VAR booth every time a new APP begins.

When a goal is scored, the video is only checked up to the point the button was last pressed.

Still subjective to some extent, but it’s a bit like a hazard perception test when learning to drive. Practice it for a while and most fans/players would agree when the last ‘attack’ effectively began.

The length of time these things take is ludicrous

We should be used to it by now after all these contentious decisions at Love St.
Get it more like Rugby and it would be more palatable if everyone in the stadium is aware of what is happening.

Yes it’s meant to be, but we’ve definitely seen variety in how far back decisions go.
