Also, Mick Kennedy is an excellent shout.

Everyone should go out of their way to call it that. We had our own brand the ‘Premier League’ but let the English league take it. We then had the SPL which was a great identity. You think of all the leagues in Europe you can name and they have a clear brand identity; the Bundesliga, Serie A, La Liga, Superliga, Eredivisie etc that they stick with. We should have kept the SPL title when the SPFL came into being in 2013. I can’t help noticing that the league down south is increasingly referring to itself as the EPL these days. The fact that loads of supporters still refer to it as the SPL shows how strong a brand name it was. They should genuinely change it back to SPL. Years after it was changed to the current unwieldy title, that new name has absolutely shite brand awareness (yuk). I live in England and everyone I ever hear with a reason to mention our league still calls it the SPL. Lots of my Scottish mates still call it the SPL. The only people I know who call it the Premiership are the types you'd expect. The types who'll say things like "It's not ACTUALLY been the SPL for years..." f**k off. It speaks volumes for the absolute arseholes running our game that they binned a well-known brand name for one that even a lot of people who like the league never use. If you re-brand something and an awful lot of people either don't notice, or prefer the old name, then you've fucked up. Change it back. They talk up the Scottish game and I like that.
