Scotland Vs Northern Ireland

How is Clarke a fraud when we qualified for the Euros at a canter from a difficult group?!

Which now looks like it's all going to be for naught. Well, other than three more ducks. That's seven without a win since we qualified, and we've just been papped at home to Norn Iron.

Pretty much all the same things we laugh at Southgate and England for isn't too dissimilar to what we're now facing. A stubborn manager that is out of ideas.

Loyalty to the same players also means complacency for said players, and makes those on the periphery become disillusioned.

Clarke deserves immense criticism for how badly things have gone. The fact they were actually going right frankly only makes this situation worse. We should be going to this tournament with the belief that we can really compete - instead we're probably going to be whipping boys again who are there simply to make up the numbers. We should all be buzzing, but it has gone totally sour.

Still, at least we should beat Gibraltar before we go! Dykes and Adams will probably get hat-tricks to show what absolute ballers they are.

Winless in 7 having conceded 19 - clearly not good.

Losing to NI for first time in 41yrs (first here in 50yrs) - not good.

Gibraltar + Finland will address our form... unsure they're good enough challenges to help address our current underlying frailties.

Jesus. Some amount of bed wetting going on here. It was a poor performance which highlighted that we struggle when teams sit in against us.

I have faith that Clarke will go about fixing that. However, we're not going to play against teams in the euros who are going to sit in which will suit us. If we go behind in those games, it becomes a real worry.

Patterson was poor and Dykes was anonymous in a game where the Irish did a great job subduing us.

Yes, we struggle when teams sit in. And we struggle when they don't (Spain, France, Netherlands).

What did we learn? - how about, when we play Germany, do what NI did to us

Strikers need to score though. That should be their main job. He scores more than Dykes is hardly strengthening your argument either.

Let midfielders and fullbacks link the play.

Well, it is an argument given Dykes is one of his main rivals to start.

Considering his lack of starts he has scored plenty this season.

You quite clearly need your lone striker to act as a focal point and link things though.

Deflection yet again

All I’m asking is who ( in your opinion ) you’d rather see in the squad ,

It’s not a difficult question, since you seem to think Shanklands not worthy

You already asked me in your response earlier when I answered exactly, Scotland don't have any international class forwards who can produce the goods on a0 regular basis, Not a single one.

So until one appears we'll just have to make do with the shite we have.

We managed a much lauded win against the danes when they were top of the group and had the cigars out

Folk keep saying that, but they missed out on a £100K per man bonus by losing to us, along with top seeding and an easier group at the tournament.

If they had the cigars out, they're a bunch of fannies.

It's almost like we've done the same - already on our holidays and not giving a toss.

Neither can be the answer and is probably the right answer.

You want your lone striker to be far enough up the pitch to get on the end of moves first and foremost, heaven forbid get in behind or have shots on goal. If he drops off to link up the play all the time nobody is getting in behind as was glaringly exposed tonight.

Bigger picture stuff but it's pretty scandalous that we're even discussing Adams or Dykes as starting strikers at international level anyway.

Scotland need players who can do it all. 2 Centre half's short. Good centre forward. Wingers to change games. But when they lose a baller like C Mcgregor to control tempo it all goes wrong. Unappreciated but a heartbeat.

If someone had offered me us losing to NI in tonight's friendly in exchange for Wales getting papped out on pens to the Poles, I'd have taken it. We're going to Germany this summer and it'll be a good laugh whatever happens.
